SUMMARY:

This position provides technical expertise for end to end raw material optimization for the Personal Care Material Value Stream team in Neenah, WI. The incumbent is responsible for understanding and supporting the raw material value chain strategy, problem solving with vendors and manufacturing facilities, supporting basic material qualifications and multiple improvement projects as needed to ensure continuity of supply, improved raw material quality and the lowest total cost of ownership for Personal Care. The incumbent reports to the Personal Care Material Value Stream manager.

SCOPE:
This is an individual contributor role that will work with cross-functional team members across all Supply Chain teams and R&E.  Has responsibility for a portion of small to moderate sized projects and/or will lead smaller activities directly. May also flow to assist wider Value Stream Breakthrough initiatives.  Plans and carries out support responsibilities with limited assistance and direction. Effectively communicates project plans and results to key customers. 

KEY CUSTOMERS:

All Supply Chain teams, Research & Engineering (R&E), Planning, Marketing, Global Procurement, Raw Material Suppliers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Engages with plant and platform teams to address issues for resolution related to safety, cost/waste, brand equity and OEE.

  • Provides on-site support (at both KC and vendors facilities) for focused improvement efforts

  • Supports and/or leads basic material qualifications for improved materials using defined processes.   

  • Initiates trials and completes subsequent planning and execution through established processes.

  • Supports the development, validation and implementation of continuous improvement of existing raw materials (and related core processes) to increase quality and reduce waste and delay.

  • Supports improvement of vendor capability to deliver Value Stream & Supplier Relationship Management objectives.

  • Assist product/quality teams in addressing Raw Material quality/specification issues and capabilities.

  • Develops, documents and transfers usable knowledge by defining and/or updating appropriate material specifications, measurements, metrics and material-process characterization learning (cause and effect).

  • Works closely with upstream R&E teams, procurement, planning and the plants to develop an End to End mindset for materials as well as ensuring a cohesive approach to supplier management.

Qualifications:


  • Education required/preferred: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline or an associate degree with relevant engineering/scientific experience will also be considered.

  • Minimum 12 months of relevant work experience.

  • Experience and expertise of Kimberly-Clark engineering procedures and processes preferred.

Critical Skills/Qualifications:


  • Solid knowledge/experience in problem solving across all 4M’s (man, machine, methods, materials) and Value Stream thinking.

  • Ability to work with multiple internal KC teams as well as external vendors and Global Nonwovens.

  • Analytical skills to collect and assess data to support technical recommendations.

  • Ability to execute multiple projects independently or with limited direction to achieve business goals within required timeframes.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to individuals and groups.

  • To support business objectives, expected travel is up to 25% of the time.
