An incoming AVP on the team should possess a positive attitude and strong quantitative skills.  The successful candidate will have an ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders to assist in the underwriting of syndicated, bilateral or agented subscription facilities.  Further, surveillance and monitoring of the portfolio will be a core responsibility. Alternatives Lending sits within the Fund Finance department, which is a key driver of revenue for the division and has $35B of loans outstanding.  The Alternatives team provides subscription finance products to some of the world’s leading Private Equity Sponsors and Fund of Hedge Fund Managers. The job is located in Boston, MA.

What you will be responsible for

As Analyst- Assistant Vice President you will


  • Assist Account Officers in due diligence process and underwriting of subscription credit facilities

  • For accounts where assisting the Account Officer: exercise appropriate diligence in credit underwriting process, with ability to independently analyze financial statements and other information pertinent to the borrower;

  • Assist Account Officer in the presentation and defense of credit recommendations clearly and concisely;

  • Assist in maintenance of up-to-date approvals, credit and legal files;

  • Respond to requests for information from Enterprise Risk Management, internal audit and bank examiners; maintain high responsiveness and service quality across internal constituencies;

  • Work with Loan Operations and customers as appropriate to facilitate operational aspects of credit relationship; 

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify, prioritize and escalate critical issues to senior management. 

  • Work closely with loan officers to continue to develop industry knowledge as well as underwriting and portfolio management skills, understanding of policies and procedures for credit and portfolio administration, and management of the legal documentation process. 

  • May also be relied upon to handle assigned projects

  • Demonstrated expertise in credit markets, commercial loan structuring, risk assessment, and legal documentation.

  • Strong analytical, credit underwriting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience in subscription credit facility origination/underwriting

  • Knowledge of FX Derivatives and other capital markets a plus.

  • Familiarity with KYC/AML.

  • A positive attitude, a client service mindset and high level of attention to details.

  • Strong excel skills and prior Salesforce experience is desirable. 

Education & Preferred Qualifications


  • Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or liberal arts; MBA or CFA a plus but not required.   

  • Minimum of 5+ years of commercial lending experience; prior subscription finance lending and or syndication experience is highly desirable.

What you will be responsible for

As a Client and Market Intelligence Analyst, you will


  • Complete Share of Wallet and Balance of Trade analyses for State Street’s CEO, CFO, COO, Head of Global Services, and Head of Global Clients division 1:1 meetings with our internal clients

  • Research new analytical products the team can deliver to: Segment Heads, the Head of Global Markets, the Head of Global Clients and Client Executives, the Head of Global Sales and Client Coverage, the Head of Alpha, and/or the Global Product, including all applicable subordinates

  • Perform benchmarking analytics in support of sales deal proposals

  • Lead new projects assigned by the CEO, CFO, COO, Head of Corporate Strategy, Global Markets, Global Services, Head of Sales, Global Credit Finance, or others.

  • Support industrialization of analytics, visualization, and delivery through structuring data, ideally skilled in transformation using Alteryx, and visualization using Tableau.
