CIO Treasury - Capital Controllers - Associate

Treasury & CIO is a critical function within Corporate responsible for managing the Firm's liquidity and capital positions, establishing funds transfer pricing policy, analyzing the Firm's lines of business ("LOBs") and consolidated earnings at risk (interest rate risk), executing the Firm's securitization program and share repurchase program, managing the Firm's relationships with rating agencies and fixed income investors, and managing structural interest rate and foreign exchange (\"FX\") risks.

Capital Controllers Team within Treasury & CIO Controllers organization is responsible for reporting of the Firm's Capital & Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) under the Basel III Standardized and Advanced capital regimes as well as GSIB and Supplementary Leverage Ratios. Capital Controllers partner with other JPMC functions, including Basel Measurement & Analytics (BM&A) within Global Operations, Business Control Office, SEC Reporting Team, Firmwide Regulatory Reporting & Analysis (FRRA) and the LOB Capital Controllers to establish control and governance best practices and accountability for the Regulatory Capital process. The group is also involved in projects, including those related to enhancing key reporting systems, conducting strategic analysis, and participating in various governance forums.

Job Summary

As a member of the Capital Controller's team the individual's responsibilities will include:


  • Develop a strong understanding of regulatory capital rules (Basel 3 Standardized and Advanced approaches) along with related ratios and metrics to enable delivery of core reporting and analysis
  • Preparation of in depth monthly and quarterly RWA analytics to enable senior management to understand key trends and drivers across capital ratios as well as forecast to actual variance analysis
  • Support RWA review and sign-off by LOBs and ensure quality variance commentary
  • Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests from key partners such as Firmwide Regulatory Reporting and Analysis (FRRA), LOBs, Corporate Financial Reporting, Regulatory Capital Policy and Oversight as well as Senior Management
  • Assist in firmwide initiatives to ensure delivery of a consistent and sound operating model as it applies to the production of RWA and compliance with the Basel Regulatory Capital framework across the firm by developing and syndicating guidelines documents
  • Support automation initiatives pertaining to RWA reporting and attestation to ensure the design and build requirements meet business needs
  • Assist in implementation of new regulatory requirements and rule changes to regulatory capital disclosures

The position involves interaction with many teams across firm including LOB and Corporate Finance Functions, BM&A, Regulatory Policy, Audit, and Technology. The ability to work efficiently, communicate effectively and influence across these boundaries will be one of the keys to success.

Qualifications


  • 4 or more years of experience in a finance, control, risk or audit function
  • Creative self-starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Prior knowledge and experience in regulatory capital preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to multi-task and work effectively with senior management in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Control mindset (ability to identify and close control gaps and / or issues)
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Visio to create and deliver effective presentations
  • Bachelor's degree required, Finance/Accounting or related field preferred
