Overview:

We are looking for talented individuals with proven expertise in promoting the design and delivery of personalized learning experiences in Ohio’s districts and schools.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Within the Office of Approaches to Teaching and Professional Learning, leads the work related to target supports and promote personalized learning accelerated success:


  • Manages a personalized learning team;

  • Ensure alignment of personalized learning activities to The Department Strategic Plan Each Child, Our Future;

  • Coordinates the research and analysis of personalized learning programs, procedures, and policies;

  • Works with local and state staff to monitor progress toward accomplishing Ohio goals, strategies, and performance measures;

  • Assess the current landscape of personalized learning in education and promising instructional models and tools;

  • Establish and foster a personalized learning task force to explore local and national strategies, inform Ohio initiatives and provide overall direction for the state to support personalized learning;

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify or create a framework to build a common understanding of personalized learning;

  • Build capacity for districts and schools to implement personalized learning;

  • Build capacity for regional partners to support the implementation of personalize learning;

  • Support districts and schools in creating learning laboratories that focus on personalized learning;

  • Increase the use of personalized learning technologies (state, regional and local);

  • Develop and deliver technology, tools and professional development to build statewide capacity for educators to support personalized learning;

  • Assist and support districts and schools in utilizing personalized learning strategies/tools/methods;

  • Integrate curriculum to support theories and practices supporting personalized learning;

  • Assists the Director of the Office of Approaches to Teaching and Professional Learning in implementing legislative, and administrative policies and procedures pertaining to personalized learning aligned with the goals of the center and Each Child, Our Future;

  • Collaborates across offices to formulate, develop, align, and implement policies for personalized learning;

  • Works collaboratively to coordinate and implement intra and inter-agency initiatives to provide personalized learning supports for the implementation of personalized learning;

  • Works with representatives from other Department offices to refine and coordinate ODE’s personalized learning efforts to determine effectiveness of district/school plans and measures of progress for student outcomes;

  • Provides policy interpretation and implementation to support and monitor the effectiveness of personalized learning supports for preschool through grade 12;

  • Works in a leadership role to provide policy, guidance, and support on statewide personalized learning initiatives in accordance with area(s) of expertise;

  • Assists with review, development, and implementation of legislation and policy to ensure alignment with assessments and standards legislation and other state education legislation;

  • Build collaborative external partnerships such as the Ohio STEM Learning Network, Johns Hopkins University and Knowledgeworks to enhance personalized learning development in across Ohio;

  • Collaborates with other state agencies, regional systems of support, parent and professional organizations/associations, and school district personnel to ensure technical assistance and professional development initiatives are appropriate and focused on improving results.

 

Within the Office of Approaches to Teaching and Professional Learning, leads the work related to digital learning:


  • Collaborates across Department offices to coordinate the development of learning management courses based on theories of adult learning;

  • Create and update guidance and resources for the internal development of high-quality professional development opportunities internally and externally;

  • Ensure all learning initiatives are directly aligned to Each Child, Our Future;  

  • Recommend and/or develop digital learning initiatives through various modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, blended);

  • Coordinates comprehensive professional learning opportunities for district and regional level educators and leaders.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Graduate degree (e.g., education or related field);

  • 3 years applied experience in use of software &/or application systems to create & deliver technology-based training;

  • 2 years applied experience in preparing informational or instructional programs.

  • Experience developing and implementing policy

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex roles and responsibilities

  • Systems thinker with creativity and strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills related to educational policy, resource allocation, and program design

  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills and a proven ability to build productive relationships with, and communicate complex messages to, a wide variety of stakeholders

  • A strong understanding of Ohio’s educational policy and landscape

  • Unwavering belief that all students can learn and achieve success in school

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills
