Job Description:

The Scientific Supervisor is responsible for organizing and processing scientific data/information into slides, posters, manuscripts, and other medical communications deliverables. This role includes managing large volumes of data/information, interpreting data, creating PowerPoint figures, and otherwise providing scientific content support in partnership with the account lead(s) and/or editorial team. S/he is also responsible for coordinating project management for each deliverable. The Scientific Supervisor possesses solid medical/scientific knowledge, familiarity with biostatistics, PowerPoint expertise, as well as excellent project management skills. S/he will be well organized, able to multitask and prioritize, and possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    • Analyze data to produce scientific graphs or tables in PowerPoint, including conversion from GraphPad Prism

    • Support scientific editorial development of abstracts, posters, manuscripts and other medical communications materials

    • Edit, fact-check and otherwise ensure quality control of medical communications materials to ensure they meet agency standards and client needs/expectations

    • Develop clear, crisp, strategic communications (eg, client memos, plans, emails, etc)

    • Track and manage all aspects of assigned projects, including appropriate liaison with internal account and finance teams

    • Identify and obtain resources to complete projects on time and on budget

    • Facilitate client/author conference calls and meetings, as needed

    • Serve as liaison to clients and authors regarding overall editorial project issues and satisfactory fulfillment of their expectations

    • Keep the team/supervisor informed of all client issues

    • Manage freelance writers, copyeditors, graphic designers, etc, as necessary

    • Master comprehensive understanding of relevant disease areas and science

    • Possess a broad understanding of industry guidelines and regulations

    • Possess thorough understanding of BioScience capabilities, including services and practices

    • Provide appropriate feedback to all team members, including proactive communication with senior team leaders

    • Keep up-to-date on skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, to ensure effective work product; utilize available tools and resources to maximize deliverables

Qualifications:


    • 1-3 years of experience as a medical writer/editor, scientific project manager, or equivalent academic/professional experience

    • Ability to understand, translate, and communicate scientific content

    • Ability to understand and process large medical/scientific datasets

    • Ability to create scientific graphs/figures from data tables

    • Outstanding organizational/project management capabilities

    • Strategic thinking and excellent communication skills

    • Proficient in MS Office, especially PowerPoint

    • Knowledge of GraphPad Prism a plus

    • InDesign or other design software knowledge a plus

    • Client-facing experience a plus

    • Bachelor's, Master's, PharmD or PhD from an accredited college or university
