Summary:

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager with Mining and Mechanical engineering background to provide dedicated capital project support for our diverse oil & gas and mining clients located in Utah and other States. The Engineer/Project Manager will be required to perform site specific evaluations, assessments, engineering studies, design proposals, project execution, and commissioning services related to plant upgrades and expansions.

Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts, and supervises tasks such as stakeholder management, design and report writing on multi discipline projects. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Interprets and applies organization and project management policies. Recommends changes in procedures. Operates with substantial latitude for independent action or decision. Reviews progress with management. Prepares, develops and assists in the preparation of proposals and qualification statements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Project management
  • Preparation of Cost Estimates, Specifications, Project Status Reports and Project Timelines.
  • Coordinate with internal and external engineering support, contractors, and managers to ensure projects are being completed in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Provide contractor oversight acting as Owner's Engineer / Project Manager on capital improvement projects
  • Assist in and lead proposal preparation efforts
  • Participate in technical and sales presentations to clients
  • Participate in successful business development and selling of engineering services provided by the SLC office and other Tetra Tech business units
  • Perform and manage technical tasks such as fieldwork, design, and report writing on multi discipline projects in the public and private sector
  • Participate in functions involving contact with client representative. Work/coordinate with project team personnel
  • Perform a range of tasks requiring utilization of advanced scientific and engineering analytical techniques, including development of cost effective remedial strategies. Assist in and potentially lead efforts in preparing work plans, long-term monitoring reports, system designs, reports, cost estimates, etc.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of junior to senior level staff on projects as appropriate. Provide technical direction and guidance to designers, technicians, and field personnel
  • This position could have field related responsibilities
  • Position requires minimal travel

Other duties may be assigned as determined appropriate by the supervisor based on level of experience.

QUALIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

Must be well organized and possess the necessary skills to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms.

Ability and willingness to travel to client facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering; Preferred

Minimum 9 years of Project Engineering experience in an industrial environment; Required

Candidates with current 24-hours MSHA certification are preferred. OSHA training is desirable.

Professional Engineering license highly desired.
