Job Description:

Home Lending (HL), a sub-line of business of the Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Line of Business (LOB) of JPMorganChase, consists of Home Lending Production & Capital Markets, Home Lending Servicing and Real Estate Portfolios. The Home Lending business offers purchase and refinance home loans to first-time and experienced home buyers, helps customers access the equity in their homes, services residential mortgage loans, and holds portfolios of residential mortgages.

The Managing Director position will lead the HL Controllers team of approximately 90 individuals globally, with teams across the US based in NY Metro, Columbus and Plano as well as in Bangalore, India. The HL Controller is fully accountable for the accuracy of the books and records of Home Lending and the responsibilities of the role include:


  • Liaison with the HL business heads and HL CFO to provide guidance and input to all New Business Initiatives including assessment of impact to financial reporting, identification and implementation of US GAAP / JPMC Accounting Policy treatment as well as determination of Capital and Risk Weighted Assets usage
  • Ownership of Real Estate Portfolio forecasting for monthly BAU, CCAR and Risk Appetite cycles as well as active participation in the same processes for HL Capital Markets activity
  • Oversight of the month-end close process, working with Financial Control, Planning & Analysis, Valuation Control Group, HL CFO teams, and Legal Entity Controllers. Key areas of oversight and focus include valuation and reporting of the Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR) Asset as well as the HL Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) Allowance
  • Delivery of US GAAP General Ledger accuracy, LOB submission and representation in External Regulatory filings including 10Q/10K as well as liaising with CCB Treasury Controllers to ensure Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) policy application and calculation
  • Contribution to the quarterly Earnings process including preparation of Q&A, review of financials and supporting materials as well as attendance at CCB and Firmwide prep meetings with Senior Management including the Firm's CFO, Firm's Controller and CCB CFO
  • Ownership of additional External Reporting, including but not limited to the FR Y-14M, OCC Filings as well as responses to Regulatory requests and exams both Firmwide and specific to the Firm's mortgage activity
  • Active participation in the HL CFO and CCB Controller Management teams


The role will also involve regular cross functional senior management engagement across Home Lending, CCB and the Firm as well as require extensive people management and significant influencing skill.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other technical field
  • Superior accounting and analytical acumen, Certified Public Accountant (i.e., CPA) preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in financial services
  • Strong technical accounting, SEC and reporting background
  • Home Lending and / or Fixed Income Financing product knowledge preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a global team including continuous career development
  • Ability to influence all levels of organization and maintain relationships with the Firm's Independent Auditor and other stakeholders
  • Proven leader with strong work ethic and interpersonal skills, able to work well in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Strong judgment, professional maturity, proactive, has the confidence to challenge the status quo and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and partnering skills, ability to interact with employees at all tenure levels, including at the executive level and work with a team to accomplish common goals
  • Ability to attract, retain, and promote a diverse, inclusive, and talented team of financial professionals at various experience levels
