J.P. Morgan Asset Management, with assets under management of USD 2.2 trillion (as of 30 September 2020), is a global leader in investment management, and offers strategies across equities, fixed income, real estate, hedge funds, private equity and liquidity. As part of the Global Alternatives Division, J.P. Morgan Private Credit manages over USD 10 billion in assets across corporate and asset-based lending solutions. In addition, J.P. Morgan Private Credit is launching a Direct Lending strategy to capitalize on growing demand for capital by private corporations as well as increasing interest from institutional investors. The business will look to originate loans to sponsor and non-sponsor backed companies and will look to raise external capital and invest across senior, unitranche and mezzanine opportunities in the United States.

Opportunity:

Building a Direct Lending offering is a key strategic initiative for J.P. Morgan Asset Management in 2021. This is an opportunity to own, define and execute on the investment, capital raising and portfolio construction strategy for the newly formed team. This role has oversight over the origination, underwriting and management of all investment opportunities. This individual will be responsible for establishing the resourcing plans of the business as well as the development of the risk and control framework.

Requirements:

The business is seeking a New York based executive with experience in sourcing and managing Direct Lending opportunities, as well as expertise in portfolio construction. The candidate must have a risk management mindset and prior experience in building platforms in large organizations. The ability to effectively collaborate with investment, client and risk and control partners is critical for success.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversight of all stages of the investment process and portfolio construction; lead investment product and vehicle strategy
  • Ongoing relationship building with Private Equity sponsors and company executives
  • Drive marketing strategy and participate in fundraising and client development
  • Manage a team of investment professionals; provide mentorship and development opportunities
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in adherence with the relevant J.P. Morgan policies and procedures as well as with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Proven track record of success in leadership & management roles, as well as investment performance
  • Expertise in debt investing, loan structuring, loan workouts and portfolio construction
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent presentation skills
  • Experience engaging in fundraising activities and press events
  • The highest ethical values in professional and personal conduct
