We are searching for a motivated & experienced Supervisor - Production


JOB SUMMARY: 


As a production supervisor, you will be responsible Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in assembling dough products to mass produce bread and sheeted items by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Helps production staff achieve company goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results

  • Studies production schedules and prepares plan for each line for labor and raw material.

  • Supervises workers engaged in molding, shaping and manipulating dough into specific shapes or sizes.

  • Contacts appropriate sources for repair issues

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.

  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, provide safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions. 

  • Maintaining communication between management and employees to ensure that necessary policies and procedure are understood and followed.

  • Conducts employee evaluation and provides regular performance feedback and effective training to staff for skill development and growth. 

  • Supervises effective working of production personnel and prepare effective production schedules and ensure compliance to all company policies. 

  • Assigns tasks according to work schedules and assigns breaks and lunch periods.

  • Must be able to meet or surpass the set quota for all high labor bread items as set by the company.

  • Must be able to learn all emergency stops on all lines.

  • Records freezer temperatures at different intervals in conformance to specifications.

  • Removes samples at different intervals for quality control inspection.

  • Suggests changes in the production schedule to increase the production throughput.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Trains and leads new employees on the production line according to company specifications.

  • Alerts Production manager and QA department of complications and situations that may arise.

  • Maintains a daily activity report.

  • Reports on downtime and scrap accumulation and ensures the correct disposition of scrap.

  • Must be familiar with the end of run marker procedure and be able to coordinate the change of product markers along with the paperwork.

  • Must be able to make adjustments to the machines.

  • Assists machine operators in replacing metal plates as job changes occur.

  • Must be able to separate product and place in line formation.

  • Identify and reports any machine malfunctions.

  • Reviews safety issues with Shift Manager and Director of Manufacturing.

  • Maintains communication between shipping, raw material, QA, and maintenance departments to get optimum efficiency.

  • Reviews and interprets established production KPI’s (Key performance indicators) with the Manufacturing Manager and Plant director in relation to any scrap and waste for the production line.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.

Requirements



  • High School Diploma required—a degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field is preferred

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience as Production Supervisor or similar role

  • Working knowledge of various types of manufacturing machinery and tools

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong work ethic—self-motivated and results-driven

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus 

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:



  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.  Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.

As an employee at Wenner Bakery, you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in-house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code
