Manager Ramp Operations at Amerijet International, Inc.

Job Description:
SUMMARY

Coordinates and oversees the ramp activities including but not limited to airport operations, aircraft handling, and Ground Service Equipment (GSE) maintenance. Directs and coordinates activities within the operation that obtain optimum use of the company's equipment, facilities, and personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, but not limited to:
  • Direct and control employees and equipment to efficiently complete the tasks within established company standards.
  • Monitor and/or conduct required training of personnel.
  • Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations. (Regulatory agencies).
  • Analyze schedules, trends, and other factors that might affect workloads; prepare work schedules that provide the most efficient and economical personnel coverage within department/ company policies to meet expected operational demands.
  • Maintain an optimum level of employee morale by proper and consistent discipline or commendation.
  • Responsible for the assignment of work performed by outside vendors as well as the purchase of ground service equipment to include leases and rentals, price negotiation, warranty terms, and delivery.
  • Maintain and protect the proper use of all company property.
  • Recognizes opportunities to control costs and supports corporate initiatives accordingly.
  • Be knowledgeable of company policies and procedures to include relating the interpretation of such to subordinates.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with established company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up to date emergency preparedness including telephone lists and review records at least every six months.
  • Provide prompt response to service requests.
  • Hire and ensure proper training and paperwork completion for all new employees.
  • Ensure all required reports are completed and submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Travel as required.
  • Track the department's performance and compare it to the standards of all activities.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS;
  • Meet Pre-Determined budget targets for the department.
  • Ensure training is completed per procedure.
  • Perform employee reviews on time.
  • Maintain on-time performance goals.
  • Ensure subordinate performance levels meet standards established.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • Individual must possess a valid driver's license and have maintained a safe driving record.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiar with GSE maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable FAA regulations including standard security programs such as OSHA and DERM regulations.
  • Knowledge and/or certification of Hazardous Materials handling.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of management experience in cargo/freight handling including customer service, and ground handling of commercial aircraft.

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to conduct interviews, hire, and train employees
  • Ability to plan, assign, and direct work objectives
  • Ability to appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees
  • Ability to address complaints and resolve problems
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Amerijet policies and acceptable laws.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility. Some light physical effort required. Must be able to work well under pressure.

TRAVEL

This position may require traveling to domestic or international locations.
