Lead Global Network Engineer at Hilton Global

What will I be doing?

The Lead Network Engineer is globally responsible for the architecture and engineering of Hilton networks supporting all corporate and property locations. You will be responsible for Network automation and strategic roadmap as directed while working as a member of Hilton's global network team. This position will also give you the opportunity to grow, take charge and collaborate with other technologies governed by our Global Network Engineering Team, which includes VoIP, Video/Telepresence Collaboration, LAN/WAN, and Security.

More specifically, you will:


  • Collaborate with various technology teams in Hilton (i.e., Network, Cloud, Security, Applications, etc.) to architect, design, and implement business network requirements for Cloud computing.

  • Maintain responsibility and oversight of the Hilton Global Network topology and assist with connectivity requirements as needed.

  • Lead all aspects of network engineering policies and operations, including network programmability (Python, scripting, and RESTful API) and orchestration.

  • Build and implement network policies to optimize network performance across corporate and hotel locations.

  • Ability to advise and contribute to the generation of technical specifications and product design

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, including finding opportunities for improvement and sharing those messages across groups.

What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:


  • Prior experience with cloud-based services (ideally AWS) – specific knowledge of setting up geographically redundant services in the cloud

  • Expert understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and distributed networks)

  • Experience with leading infrastructure as code environments at AWS, including CloudFormation, VPC's and the AWS CLI

  • Experience managing, leading and supporting cloud devices/services

  • Experience with security concepts around Security group management

  • Have a solid technical background in networking technologies, including VPN, IPSec, BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and Load Balancing

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:


  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in Technology or a related field

  • Five (5) years of experience as a network administrator or engineer using Cisco products

  • Three (3) years managing network functionality in cloud infrastructures

  • Solid experience with load balancers (F5 or Avi/NSX Advanced Load Balancer)

It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:


  • Bachelor's Degree, or Associate's Degree with six (6+) years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED with twelve (12) years of Technology related experience

  • Nine (9) years of professional experience in Technology or a related field

  • Seven (7) years of working experience with complex network topologies

  • Team lead or managerial experience

  • Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, etc.) or AWS certifications (Associate or Professional)

  • Scripting experience in Bash/JSON/Powershell, etc.

  • Experience working within operational processes, DevOps, and deployments

  • Experience with automation frameworks (Ansible/Chef/Puppet) and configuration management tools
