Background:
PKL Services will be performing depot level work by installing or modifying the systems indicated below on the UH-1N aircraft at both Andrews AFB, MD and Fairchild AFB, WA. PKL shall provide services to disassemble, modify, install, reassemble and support rapid prototyping/system installation of engineering change modifications to various models of USAF UH-1N aircraft. Anticipated modifications include:
· ARC-210 Gen VI MUOS SATCOM and New Antenna
o Trial Kit Installations
o Kit Proof Installations
o Production Installations
*** Please note: This position is contingent on contract award to PKL Services. DOD Contract award notification to contractor industry is expected in the near future. Period of Performance is approximately 11 months with planned breaks between trial installs and kit proofing.
Task and Responsibilities:
1. The Avionics technician performs avionics organizational and depot-level maintenance on specific UH-1N aircraft, installed components and other equipment. Depot-level maintenance in this case is performing modifications indicated above.
2. Fabricate (if directed) and install aircraft wiring circuits, testing aircraft electrical and electronic circuitry, and performing final testing of related and affected electrical, instrument and communication/navigation systems.
3. Assist the Electrician to Inspect, repair and modify all airframe related wiring that is related to the technical directive that is being installed.
4. Use and care of common tools, test equipment, multimeters and precision measuring devices in the installation, maintenance or repair of electrical and Com/Nav systems.
5. Troubleshoot using wiring diagrams, modifying, and repairing complex electrical systems, components and accessories as directed in appropriate technical order and maintenance manuals.
6. Replace defective control units, radios, relays, boards, servo units, indicating instruments, or other components of the electrical and Com/Nav systems as directed by the technical order and maintenance manuals.
7. Re-install related electronic equipment by routing and connecting wiring to new or existing electrical or electronic systems, components, or equipment.
8. Researching aircraft modification history, technical orders, engineering change proposals, and manuals concerning wire codes, wiring configuration, and testing procedures.
9. Complete Time Compliance Technical Order forms as necessary.
10. Travel when necessary to complete modifications.
11. Any and all other duties as directed by the Site Lead.
Required education/skills background:
1. High School Diploma.
2. Must be authorized to work in the United States (U.S.).
3. Working knowledge of UH-1N avionics systems to include Comm/Nav equipment.
4. Contractors are required to have a Common Access Card (CAC) and shall be required to pass the equivalent of a trustworthy National Agency Check plus Written Inquiries with Credit Check (NACI).
5. Must be able to attain and retain a Secret security clearance.
6. Level II - five (5) years previous experience as an aircraft Avionics Systems Technician.
7. Technicians must have at least one (1) year of recent (within past three years) aircraft maintenance experience on any H-1, any H-60, Bell 212/412 or S-70 aircraft, which shall have been documented in training records, TBA or MIS as required.
8. Capable of operating support equipment.
9. Aircraft Mechanic II (Avionics) skills series must have a combination of experience in modification of aircraft cockpits, relocation of avionics equipment, installation of antenna systems on aircraft structures, and routing & modification of wiring harness systems.
10. Working knowledge of USAF technical orders and knowledge of USAF maintenance publications, technical data, and the ability to document maintenance utilizing Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) or equivalent.
11. Must have the ability to troubleshoot electrical and Com/Nav discrepancies down to the component level.
12. Possess the ability to use electrical schematics, wiring, diagrams, and interpret applicable technical data.
13. Employee must provide basic hand tools unless squadron or employer previously agreed to provide them.
Tools:
1. A toolbox containing common hand tools for aircraft avionics work is required.
2. Tools shall be marked IAW established contract guidelines.

Physical Demands:
This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions, including the cockpit. Normal color/depth perception and no record of emotional instability are required.
Work Environment (ADA):
May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing thru a hazardous area.
