Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries (MMBSI) is a business unit within the Commercial Bank with 15,000 clients and 120 offices in the U.S. serving clients with annual revenues of $20mm and up.

Job Description

Companies focused on digital solutions, disruptive technologies and entrepreneurial thinking continue to have a place at the forefront of economic growth and in JPMorgan Chase's Middle Market Bank; so too do vital institutions such as government entities, hospitals, higher education and not-for-profits. All of these, in aggregate, make up the Specialized Industries (SI) business in Middle Market Banking, and continued expansion in this space is a strategic priority for the Commercial Bank.

In support of refining and implementing this strategy, we are looking for a Business Manager who will act as a core partner to the Head of Specialized Industries. A successful candidate is outcome-focused and has a leadership style that fosters teamwork and 10X thinking. The candidate will work across the business extensively and must demonstrate the ability to effectively navigate within a matrixed environment. The ideal candidate understands, and is curious about, the innovation economy and vital institutions landscape and is familiar with the opportunities and challenges of start-ups and maintaining parallel cross-functional work-streams, understands finance business models, and possesses strong interpersonal skills and outstanding analytical skills to support the refinement and implementation of the business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute growth-related strategic initiatives, maintaining a robust controls environment and, supporting various commercial processes to ensure the banking leads are enabled to run their businesses in a granular and effective way
  • Lead design, scope, execution, and go-to-market of various cross-functional, cross line-of-business projects where Specialized Industries' unique and differentiated coverage model can help the Firm broadly achieve specific objectives. In addition, execute business-as-usual across a range of day-to-day business management tasks
  • Be a leader within the MMBSI Finance and Business Management team and partner closely with the Finance team, to ensure measurement, monitoring, and appropriate management of the underlying financial performance of each vertical within Specialized Industries and the Segment as a whole. Engaging the banking teams on goal-setting and tracking progress against Key Performance Indicators and financial targets (budgets / outlook), is critical to this effort
  • Partner closely with the Data Analytics and SalesForce teams to ensure that the Specialized Industries business is fully leveraging available sales enablement tools and capabilities
  • Represent the "story" of Specialized Industries to various internal and external stakeholders through presentation creation for quarterly business reviews, Commercial Bank and JPMorgan Chase Operating Committee meetings, Board meetings, and other executive leadership forums.


  • Qualifications

    • 7+ years of relevant work experience in financial services, strategy, or sales operations; knowledge of Commercial Banking and/or Middle Market is preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and develop strong partnerships within all levels of the organization
    • Proven leadership of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Strong project management and strategic planning abilities with proven teamwork and influencing skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and ability to "tell the story"
    • Ability to interpret and present complex data; Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Strong understanding of financial and MIS systems and modern data analytics and visualization tools
    • Mature, independent, highly organized, self-motivated and a team player
    • BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred
