This position is based at our Oakland, New Jersey machinery plant.  This facility designs and produces custom labeling and serialization equipment primarily for Pharmaceutical, Beverage and Food manufacturing companies.  This is a day shift opening. Position Overview


This position contributes to the success of the company by providing our team with in-depth electrical and light mechanical assembly skills and knowledge. Assembly duties would include collection of materials and tools to performs assembly and quality control functions per defined procedures, drawings, schematics and work instructions.   This position also contributes to the organization by utilizing a combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to provide our clients with superior service on installations, troubleshooting and repair of equipment in the field.


 


Essential Job Functions



  • Electrical wiring and assembly of subassemblies, components and machines

  • Electrical wiring schematic interpretation and assembly including wire preparation, soldering and crimping

  • Light mechanical assembly of machinery components and subassemblies

  • Staging of orders and material handling functions as required

  • Utilizing schematics, prints and work instructions, assembles electrical, mechanical and pneumatic assemblies as required

  • Troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and controls (PLC’s, HMI, parameters, etc.)

  • Testing equipment for performance to specifications and for reliability

  • Optimizing set-up and changeover (mechanical and controls)

  • Documenting set-up and changeover (mechanical and controls)

  • Training customers and field service techs on troubleshooting

  • Training customers and field service techs on set-up and changeover (theory and practical)

  • Install, demonstrate, maintain & repair marking, coding & labeling equipment

  • Develop reports in keeping with company reporting mechanisms

  • May provide first-line technical support via phone and email for all customers

  • Attend trainings and meetings as required by leadership

  • Keep current on trends from both market & technical standpoints

  • Serve as a technical resource to Regional Service Technicians on Oakland machinery

 


Requirements



  • High school diploma

  • Technical degree or training preferred

  • 3 or more years’ experience in the assembly, repair & troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment

  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly of machinery and subassemblies using common hand and power tools as required

  • Ability to perform electrical wiring assembly utilizing standard electrical tools (soldering irons, crimpers, strippers) as required

  • Ability to read assembly drawings, electrical schematics/diagrams and detailed work instructions

  • Ability to read and understand English

  • Ability to identify customer needs and match their solution with company product/services

  • Ability to positively interact with customers and colleagues in stressful situations

  • Knowledge of industry and applications

  • Obtain and maintain PMMI certification

    • This certification is paid for by the company


  • Computer literacy, esp. with MS Office

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Some locations may require bi-lingual skills

  • Must have own, dependable vehicle and good driving record

  • Must provide own tools

Following all federal, state, local, and IDT specific safety guidelines as prescribed in the employee handbook and subsequent company safety training.
