We are currently looking for a Process Control & Automation Engineer (Level 2) in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania (suburb of Pittsburgh, PA) who will support our Specialty Metals Melt Shops in Brackenridge and Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Reporting into the Melt Shop Automation Team Manager, you will have responsibility for the architecture, modification, and maintenance of mission critical computer-based automation systems that are essential to accomplishing goals related to process and quality improvement, cost reduction, equipment obsolescence/integration, security and automation improvement.

You will be instrumental in helping our plants become more automated and digital; and you will add to the expertise and knowledge of this team that helps produce high-tech specialty metals. In order to become successful, you will have to quickly develop a strong understanding of the systems and technologies to identify and develop efficient methods to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability through technology innovation. You'll also have to work collaboratively with many cross-functional teams including production, quality control, information technology, technical service, and process engineering. As part of the team, you will share 24 hour / 7 day a week on-call support responsibilities on a rotating basis. Direct on-call responsibility is every third week.

Additional Responsibilities:


* Lead/participate in the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and evaluation of new and existing computer-based automation systems
* Project planning of computer-based automation system projects, including project scheduling, resource and budget planning, commissioning planning
* Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure expected quality, timely delivery and within budget
* Develop, deploy, test and maintain SCADA system to ensure functionality and monitor systems to quickly address problems or adjust automated processes
* Design, program, install and alter/modify HMIs
* Responsible for writing, maintaining and enhancing functional requirement and system documentation
* Participation in world class safety program
* Participate in capital projects as needed
* Lead/participate in problem-solving activities; engineer and implement solutions
* Interact with internal staff and shop floor personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities
* Organize and conduct audits

Basic Qualifications


* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineer, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar computer systems and automation degree

Preferred Qualifications (In addition to Basic Qualifications)


* At least three years of computer-based automation experience including process automation network infrastructures, security, firewalls, and reliability.
* Experience with integrated system design, administration and maintenance in an industrial environment.
* SQL Server and Oracle database programming & administration.
* Familiarity with interfaces to Level I (PLC), control systems, MES systems and business systems.

* Strong ability to show self-initiative and resourcefulness to dig-in, research, understand and apply learnings to appropriately troubleshoot system issues

In this role, you will be able to showcase your skills, and have an ability to learn new technical skills. Technical skills that you will either use or learn includes:


* Programming using Object Oriented Programming tools (e.g., C++, C#, Java, .NET)
* Configuration, administration, maintenance, and upgrade of Wintel PC & Server hardware/software.
* Web page development/maintenance/administration.
* Apache or IIS development/maintenance/administration.
* Administration and maintenance of VMWare/HyperV-virtual machines, PC&A domains and Active Directory, Unix-based systems, DEC VMS, OS/2 systems, or DOS systems.
* Programming/administration using PowerShell, REXX, VB, Visual Studio, Delphi, and ColdFusion.
* Code management/collaboration tools (SVN).
