Job Summary:
WEX Bank located in Midvale, Utah is seeking a dynamic Senior Portfolio Risk and Policy Manager to oversee key Credit related responsibilities for a Commercial Lending portfolio comprised of small, medium, and large enterprises. The top candidate will have experience and passion in leading and developing Credit Risk Policies, Reports, Analysis, and integrating models in order to align portfolio performance with the bank's credit loss forecast, risk appetite, and risk optimization goals.
This role is Newly added and will report to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) as a key individual in building out the bank's Credit Risk strategies, capabilities, and future growth of the bank.
Ideally this role would be located in Utah. WEX will consider remote work post COVID for an experienced professional.
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to:
Lead Credit Policy:
Maintain, review, develop, and document all bank Credit Risk policies across all products and lines of business
Lead Credit Policy development and changes that support business initiatives, new products, policy expansions, and or policy restrictions that align with either the bank's risk appetite or overall business strategy
Support the establishment of a Credit Policy framework and Underwriting Standards / Guidelines that define Risk Acceptance Criteria (RAC's) and Policy Exception Criteria for onboarding of new customers and credit risk exposure on existing customers
Act as a 2nd line of defense and challenge function related to all operational activities, business and or Parent led initiatives that would materially impact Credit Risk performance of the bank's portfolios
Provide Governance:
Ensure all Credit Policy changes are documented, analyzed, and approved according to Bank policy. Establish version controls for maintenance of policies; including elements of model and data governance
Confirm that all Credit Engine rules and Operational processes related to credit line management are aligned with approved Credit Policy through RCSA's, QA testing, and reports monitoring
Support bank CRO in developing a bank Risk Appetite, and managing the bank's Credit Committee in line with the Credit Committee Charter
Oversee Credit Risk Issues Management program and execution related to internal audit and or regulatory findings
Ensure that all Credit Policy and processes align with Regulatory and Compliance guidance
Own the Analysis and reporting of key data:
Analyze Industry and Commercial product trends for Credit Policy benchmarking vs. competition
Leverage Parent Company analytical and reporting resources for establishing performance KPI benchmarks
Drive regular or ad hoc analysis of portfolio where key KPI's are performing outside of prescribed risk appetite or profitability expectations
Leverage analytics tools such as tableau to perform portfolio analysis to drive profitable volume, margin, credit loss trade offs
Support CRO in development of standardized reporting of portfolio risk metrics for monthly analysis, Credit Committee, and Board reporting
Oversee analysis for New Products:
Support "test and learn" initiatives that may lead to Credit Policy changes in support of positive risk vs. reward tradeoffs
Develop business case analysis template for all business initiatives that impact portfolio credit risk profile
Liaison with business as Credit Risk subject matter expert for all business development activities
Create Business Requirements Documents (BRD's) for all credit policy changes for system implementation
Support development and design of all system processes that support execution of Credit Policy
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science required. (In accounting, business, or finance degree preferred)
10+ years of Credit Risk Analysis and Policy Management experience (both Commercial and Consumer risk preferred)
Preferred Certifications: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Credit Business Associate (CBA) Credit Analysis (RMA)
Strong working knowledge of Commercial Lending terminology, various products, and risk tools for managing credit risk
Advanced understanding of credit policy development, documentation, use of performance KPI's, and logistic regression models
Working knowledge and general experience with various credit tools (i.e. D&B, Equifax, Experian, etc.)
Sound understanding of credit and banking laws and regulations
Ability to develop and maintain good business relationships while maintaining independent risk judgement
Must pass a successful background investigation.
Advanced computer skills using Microsoft, Excel, and G-Suite office, and Windows O/S
Preferred experience in PeopleSoft, Moody's, Tableau, and SAS
Demonstrated ability to establish strong relationships with superiors, peers, customers, and vendors.
Strong negotiation, problem resolution, and analytical skills
Self-directed and motivated to act within decision-making authority. Seeks guidance from management as appropriate
Accurately & consistently evaluates complex messages and responds appropriately to all issues and concerns
