Part-Time Nurse Care Coordinator (RN)

We are looking for a Part-Time Registered Nurse to care for the shelter guests at Open Door Mission's Garland Thompson Men's Center. You will be responsible for educating them on healthy habits and prevention of health issues. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to provide quality nursing care. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient's well-being by providing high quality nursing care with assistance from our main clinic team when needed.

Open Door Mission is a gospel rescue mission, serving the Greater Omaha Area by providing short-term and long-term shelter, life-changing programs addressing root causes of homelessness and poverty, and homeless prevention resources to those in need.

YOU ARE A SOLID FIT FOR THIS POSITION IF:

• You have a visible relationship with Christ and ability to share the gospel as opportunities arise.
• You have 2+ years of experience in the nursing field
• You have a B.S. in Nursing and a current license as a Registered Nurse.
• You have basic nursing triage skills and the ability to stay within the scope of practice.

OUR IDEA OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE IS SOMEONE WHO:

• Has 2+ years of experience in public health
• Has a CPR certification.
• Has the ability to connect with people.
• Has demonstrated ability to successfully work with people in crisis.(e.g., mentally ill, domestic violence victims, chemical dependency, generational poverty, homelessness).
• Has a desire and commitment to work as a team, but can also work independently with little supervision.

THIS ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Providing emergency triage within RN scope of practice, problem solving, and de-escalation to guests and staff in the Garland Thompson Men's Center
• Coordinating and providing volunteer provider clinics.
• Providing COVID-19 related primary nursing duties as directed by the Health and Wellness Director.
• Working with and assisting nursing students and their instructors regarding triage, basic RN care, programs, and presentations.
• Remaining in consistent communication with Health and Wellness Director regarding clinic matters, volunteers, and patient follow-up care.

Standard Shift:

All applicants must be willing to abstain from nicotine and alcohol while in the employ of the Open Door Mission.

This person will have a solid, visible relationship with Christ; clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities arise (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15); be willing and able minister to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Omaha with a compassionate heart in a constantly changing environment

Job Type: Part-Time

Pay: $23.55-$27.88

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Schedule:

Monday, 10am - 8:30pm OR 8am - 6:30pm (depending on volunteer clinics)

Tuesday, 8am - 6:30pm
