Garmin is hiring an IT Network Manager.  This position is located in Olathe, KS

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network Manager is accountable to the Director, IT Infrastructure for:


  • Management of team priorities and delivery of Global Network projects.

  • Management of internal Global Network staff.

  • Establishment and execution of strategy and vision for the Global Network team

  • Maintenance and continual improvement of operational standards (performance)

  • Exceeding customer expectations

  • Coordination with Global Network vendors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Works closely with the Directors of Infrastructure and Security, as well as with the Data Center and Telecom Manager to ensure infrastructure solutions, policy, process, and approach consistency.

  • Provides functional leadership and management to the Global Network staff. Including day-to-day management, annual reviews, and other aspects of leadership.

  • Oversight and management of all Global Network equipment.

  • Manage projects and priorities for the Global Network team, by

    • Ensuring each project is aligned with Garmin business priorities

    • Ensuring each project is well defined and has plans for success

    • Collaborating with local and global stakeholders in the design of Global Network solutions to meet business challenges and requirements




  • Acts as an advocate for the customer to the Global Network team. Ensures that the Global Network team understands appropriate criticality of solution and situations. Helps prioritize items to ensure appropriate order of execution

  • Organizes team to deliver and assist on numerous requests as required including but not limited to: WAN, LAN, WLAN, traffic optimization devices, Load Balancers, Security, Data Center network architecture, Cloud architecture, tools for maintenance and monitoring, and other special troubleshooting or implementation projects as assigned

  • Strengthens key partnerships with network technology hardware, software, and service vendors

  • Researches new technologies that deliver business value and operational return

  • Analyzes complex business needs, and recommend and facilitate implementation of network enhancements or upgrades to improve performance and reliability of IT solutions

  • Delivers cost effective solutions through detailed analysis to determine the Total Cost of Ownership

  • Evolves policy, process and procedures that enable the design, build, research, analyze, configure, harden, troubleshoot and maintenance of global network systems

  • Improves service and project execution standards and assure staff preparedness and capability through coaching, mentoring and direct leadership

  • Acts as a representative for IT at customer review meetings when appropriate

  • Analyzes existing network infrastructure, develops strategy, and presents recommend changes to Director

  • Assists Director in departmental budgeting

  • Assist in the ongoing development of continuous improvement initiatives within Garmin’s IT group utilizing Agile principles

  • Conduct annual performance evaluations

  • Accept and complete projects and other miscellaneous IT duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· 10+ years Global Network experience in a heterogeneous environment, with 5+ being a direct line manager


  • Strategic leader defining roadmap, policy and process for global network teams

  • Global experience with multiple regions

  • Significant experience with Cisco

  • Solid experience with policy and process

  • Proven track record of project delivery including the coordination and management of projects in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

  • Knowledge of analysis, design and configuration of complex network systems.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully developing and coordinating teams and multiple projects in a matrix 24x7 environment

  •  Strong interpersonal, written, and oral skills

  • Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and asset management
