The Project Line Manger (PLM), located in Pasadena, California, is responsible of managing his/her Product Line, its products and their evolutions throughout their respective lifecycle, from feasibility study to product withdrawal.
The PLM’s permanent objectives are to manage the definition and the evolution of the products to maintain their competitiveness and profitability. In its capacity.
The PLM leads the Product Line CORE team, which includes Product Line Architect, Product Design Authority, Product Development Manager or Product Owner, Procurement Product Manager, Quality Manager and Financial Controller.
The PLM is in charge of a portfolio of products with pro-forma aggregated revenue greater than $10M/year and up to $100M.
The products are key building blocks or direct contributors in the solutions sold by Thales for Law Enforcement, Digital Identity, Voter Solutions, Driving License, Access control.
The results and activity of the PLM have direct visibility at the Business Unit Executive Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
Must be able to provide robust value proposition & competitive positioning with Marketing and Business Intelligence
Must be able to Synthesize market trends, market/customer needs, segmentation and competitions from Business Owners Market analysis
Responsible for defining and implementing the Product Line strategy
Responsible for managing the Products Plans
Responsible for leading the Product Life Cycle Decision Reviews then implementing action plan
Responsible for providing budget allocation that are approved during planning.
Must be able to work closely with PLA (Product Line Architect) and Project Manager (or Product Owner) in charge of Product development
Must be able to lead the Product Line Core Team and Product Change Control Board with PLA
Responsible for the coordination of the “Go to Market” action plan with Business Owners
Responsible for driving Marketing & Sales Kit delivery with Marketing & Communication as part of BL Marketing plan.
Participate in the definition of the pricing rules, T&C with Business Owners
Responsible for defining the competitive positioning, marketing collaterals, Bid factory
Responsible for participating in Bid gate preparation: validate with PLA tender compliance to Products Policy and identify the eventual gaps
Responsible to ensure consistency of Product Policy with customer's expectation & satisfaction as part of PL strategy & Product Plan
Responsible for developing and maintaining the Market & Customers Requirements Description
Must be able to provide support to KAM (Key Account Managers), Sales, and Capture Leader, Bid Managers during pre-sales and Bid activities : Participate in customers, prospect & partners meetings
Responsible for the control and monitoring of the Product Line and Products competitiveness,
Responsible for the update of the Business Plan and roadmap in coherence with Ambition Boost performance plan
Responsible with the PLA for the Engineering and Industrial strategy: product re-use and Core/Non Core & MTB (Make/Team/Buy)
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Management in similar technical/ engineering industry or minimum 10 years of experience in solution management in biometrics
At least 5 year of experience performing the following in a technical/ engineering environment
Defining and implementing the Product Line strategy
Managing the Products Plans
Leading the implementation of the product plans
Master Degree in Business in Marketing , Engineering, Physics or Mathematics or similar technical discipline
Prior experience leading teams/ projects towards challenging results in a cross-functional/ matrix environment
Proven record of defining solutions to complex problems (software, cloud, IT products, complex workflow to multiple market segments or customers)
Prior experience working with engineering creating new product features
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master’s in Business Administration (Marketing)
Experience in Biometrics products
