What you will do

In this new role you will have a major impact on the Wichita plant (largest JCI manufacturing plant in the US). Using your analytical and detective skills, you will access a variety of data to identify issues and trends that impact the quality of our products. You will have the opportunity to significantly reduce the cost of quality issues by creating and managing databases, pulling data from various systems, identifying trends, identifying cost impact, and providing reports on key metrics.

How you will do it


  • Collect and coordinate business requirements for analytical reporting. Take proactive approach to supporting the production of products to meet requirements

  • Establish and develop quality-related data collection systems under the direction of the Quality Manager and Quality Engineering

  • Maintain a working knowledge of receiving, fabrication, paint, assembly and shipping processes, requirements and standards

  • Monitor the performance of reports and dashboards, complete data validation, and resolve data integrity issues.

  • Maintain the Quality Alert database and prepare Quality Alerts under Quality Engineering guidance

  • Provide system user support through training and query resolution to ensure the most effective usage of data.

  • Key focus on eliminating manual reporting activities within the Product Management teams through system automation.

  • Assess current state reporting activities and develop robust solutions to automate and optimize.

  • Develop new approaches to solving problems identified during quality activities and provide/recommend process improvements to leadership

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.

  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

  • Review and report trends including early production containment, process and product audits, etc.; prepare and issue reports and communications as required

  • Maintain QMS controlled documents

  • Filter and “clean” data, and locate and correct code problems.

  • Review ad-hoc vs. standard management reporting process to help determine when repetitive ad-hoc requests should be included as standard reporting.

  • Prepare and issue monthly Tool Box Talks under the direction of Quality Engineering

  • Participate in cross functional teams as needed for continuous improvement and NPI activities

  • Assist in Layered Process Audits, High Performing Teams, CAPS, and QMS audits as required

  • Use SQL to mine large complex data sets. Transform data using pivot tables and advanced excel formulas. Load it into reports for others to make decisions

  • Create and maintain MS Access databases using VBA to improve internal and cross department tasks in efficacy and communication

  • Able to query data from a variety of systems – mySQL, SAP, MES, Line Matrix; and combine them into a coherent picture

  • Understand and remove corrupt or poor data from raw sources

  • Own data/technical issues and work with IT and Software Vendors to resolve

What we look for

Required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Applications, Engineering, Business Management, Mathematics or related field. 

  • 1-2 years as a Business or Data Analyst.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and possess a strong sense of urgency.

  • Strong time management and organization skills.

  • Highly customer-focused and able to manage conflicting priorities.

  • Strong SQL skills are necessary

  • Competency with Microsoft suite

Preferred:


  • Experience with SAP, Salesforce.com, VBA, MES and Line Matrix are all a big plus
