Type: Full-Time
Location: Bangor, Maine

Job Description:

At Woodard & Curran, there’s nothing we love more than a tough engineering challenge. We handle a wide range of water and environmental issues—solving complex problems with creativity and tenacity. That’s how we make a difference to our clients, people, and planet. Our company was founded on a simple concept: provide a safe and enjoyable place to work with opportunity, integrity, and commitment, and we will attract talented people. Those people are at the heart of our firm, solving some of the most pressing water and environmental challenges for our clients.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our company. If you want to jumpstart your career and expand your skills while working alongside talented, experienced experts, then this is the opportunity for you! We are a mission-driven organization that puts our people first, with a culture that focuses on providing meaningful work, engaging challenges, recognition, and reward. Our electrical engineering group is committed to the internship model and it has proven to be a beneficial pipeline for developing future full-time engineers after graduation.

What You Will Be Doing At Woodard & Curran:

Duties and responsibilities vary based on level of experience, project expectations, individual motivation, and aptitude for learning and applied concepts. An intern will generally shadow experienced professionals and participate as a member of a team by contributing to actual projects. Interns can apply what they have learned “from the classroom” via experience-based learning. We will give you the opportunity to assist with entry level engineering assignments which may include:

  • Electrical distribution, relaying, power generation, motor control, and lighting projects for our industrial, water, wastewater, municipal, design-build, and plant operations clients on a regional and national basis.

  • Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, studies, calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Perform construction phase services such as shop drawing review, contractor oversight, and QA/QC functions to ensure accuracy and adequacy of work products.

  • Your work will come in varying degrees of complexity and although you will work independently on most projects, our experienced engineers will be there to answer questions and provide on-the-job mentoring.

What You Will Need To Succeed:

  • The ideal candidate will be a second- or third-year Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology major.

  • Experience or interest in power system design, motor control, instrumentation, PLC based control systems, and technical writing is highly desired.

  • Applicants are asked to attach a cover letter and resume which should include a sample of applicable courses, most recent GPA, and past work experience.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Woodard & Curran is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Woodard & Curran is a Drug Free Work Place.

Individuals with Disabilities and Protected Veterans are encouraged to apply.
