Summary
This position helps support our regional farming location in Winnemucca, NV, by managing the load-out and potato storage operations as well as supporting the production of 1,600 acres of chip potatoes.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Lead the load-out crew and shipment of potatoes. These duties will include but are not limited to:
Lead load-out team of 6 to 10 employees
Monitor potato quality and implement quality control standards as directed by the Farm Manager
Direct third-party freight operators through shipment process
Be the primary point of contact for customer, consultants and shared services regarding chip shipping and storage
Coordinate with the Director of Sales and Farm Manager to ship loads based on run schedule, quality, and logistical considerations.
Coordinate with Storage Manager and walk bins weekly
Track and maintain accurate storage inventory of potatoes and their quality.
Manage inventory to maximize all contracts, specifically oversized potatoes.
Provide operational and mechanical support for key potato production operations, especially the following:
Manage the waste water process and ensure regulatory compliance
Manage the wash plant facilities and grounds year-round.
Support potato storage operations in partnership with the Storage Manager, lead maintenance and cleaning throughout the year
Manage crew hours and schedule to maximize efficiency
Monitor potato storage units during the winter storage season
Record shipping and quality data, food safety documentation, and maintenance records
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Walking and working outdoors in the elements.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Driving between storage sites to move samples and other supplies.
Regularly handling objects of up to 65 lbs.
Expected Hours of Work
Typical daily farm hours are 7 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Harvest and planting seasons are busy and may require longer hours and some weekends.
Desired Qualifications
A valid US driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and pass vehicle insurance verification.
1+ years’ experience managing storage/warehouse programs is preferred
Experience in crop/produce storage and production.
Superior organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational teams on the farm.
The ability to prioritize and re-prioritize, as needed in an ever-changing environment.
A strong work-ethic and the ability to be self-directed while still valuing and collecting team input.
Bilingual in English/Spanish desired but not required
