Job Summary


The Graham Center is currently seeking a Student Event Planning Office Assistant to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:
- Serve as the primary contact for the Graham Center department. Greet and assist customers as they enter the office.
- Responsible for answering phone calls on a multi-line phone.
- Assist with entering and processing reservation requests for Graham Center venues and services in person, over the phone, online, and via email; and process payments for these as needed.
- Provide customers with overall guidance on reservations, policies, procedures, and directions.
- Provide guidance for guests who are looking for a specific event/function throughout FIU's multiple campuses.
- Assist with general office tasks, acceptance of deliveries, distributing mail, placing supply orders.
- Serve as event monitor including greeting customer, ensure layout follows protocol and communicate with staff to guarantee the successful delivery of all services to assigned event.
- Maintain and upkeep the appearance of the Event Planning Office.
- Generate daily reports and staff updates.
- Assist in the planning and production of departmental events; as well as represent the Division in University events such as Commencement and other.
- Provide coverage in other units as needed.
- Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications


- Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.Customer service knowledge
- None to basic level of Microsoft Word.
- Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
Upon graduating, student employment must end.
