Job Summary

The Research Data Analyst supports the ongoing research portfolio, which includes a number of research projects in maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS domestically, and abroad in east Africa. The individual s primary responsibility is to support both the qualitative and quantitative data needs of this broad portfolio of work. This position will be responsible for supporting research activities including quantitative and qualitative data collection, review of interview/transcripts, documents, review, cleaning, and analysis of quantitative data, and the coding and analysis of qualitative data under the supervision of the study directors and the Principal Investigators (PIs). The individual will provide data support for both quantitative and qualitative research activities, prepare findings for reports, articles, and presentations and conduct relevant literature reviews, as needed.

The Research Data Analyst will support the study statisticians, the Project Director and PIs with preparing and processing data collection tools (interview guides, surveys, and other tools) and provide technical assistance to properly implement activities across multiple studies- including working with counterparts and colleagues domestically and overseas. The individual will help draft Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other project documents to ensure proper conduct of research and support routine regulatory review (annual reviews, new study review development).

This is a one-year contract from date of hire with the possibility of extension based on funding.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in public health, a social science field, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training

* 1 or more years of related experience

* Working knowledge of field-based research studies and randomized trial designs

* Working skills in quantitative data analysis including experience with R, Stata, and/or SPSS

* Working skills in qualitative data analyses and interpretation, including the use of Atlas.ti, Dedoose and/or other qualitative data management software

* Ability to work and interact positively with people from diverse backgrounds including teams in Kenya and Uganda, and across CA

* Strong skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing

* Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with PIs, team members, other departments and outside institutions including international partners

* Highly organized and able to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

* Demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

* Master s degree in Public Health or related field

* Previous work with international field teams conducting data collection, preferably in SSA

* Experience supporting manuscripts and other publications for both quantitative and qualitative research

* Working knowledge and experience with research and data collection activities

* Experience using Qualtrics, REDCap, or similar electronic data collection and management systems

* Experience with UC systems and protocols
