Facilities Specialist

Position Summary:

The part-time Facilities Specialist will lead day-to-day facility operations to ensure a safe work environment. The Facilities Manager performs and supervises tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, environmental, safety, custodial and event coordination. This position requires a team player attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details and project coordination.

Responsibilities


  • Primary technical resource for all facilities issues

  • Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

  • Maintains accurate record of all repairs and facility modifications

  • Work closely with property management to ensure building is fully operational

  • Maintains all fire protection and security systems, to include required maintenance, inspections, and documentation

  • Manage vendor relations and direct the actions of external maintenance, cleaning, and equipment suppliers regarding facilities and equipment

  • Responsible for cost controls associated with facility maintenance, equipment and furnishings

  • Assist with formulating procedures for use in event of accidents, fires, inclement weather or other emergencies

  • Perform routine facility maintenance including lights, drywall, interior paint, trash removal, and other items as may be necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

  • This is a part-time position

Knowledge, Skills, & Ability

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to handle physical job requirements that involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, climbing, lifting, carrying and moving objects and furniture that can weigh up to 80 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.

  • This position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.

  • Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.

  • Must be able to drive a car, and possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to safely lift 80 lbs.


Environmental Requirements

Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances. For safety reasons, employee must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

Minimum Experience


  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous property management/building operations experience, laboratory experience preferred

  • Must have aptitude for detail, and be physically fit.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of major building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.

  • Must be able to operate all tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written comprehension)
