What You'll Do

The Laboratory Director is responsible for overall operations and testing in the laboratory. Responsible for coordinating work flow to ensure testing is performed according to procedure and in a timely manner.

* Responsible for the day to day operations of the Laboratory.

* Must observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families and employees of Hillcrest Hospital South.

* Create and maintain a culture of safety and quality throughout the laboratory

* Responsible for implementing and maintaining policies and procedures that guide and support patient safety and quality laboratory services.

* Assists in the evaluation of new or modified techniques when required.

* Review and evaluate the results for quality control and proficiency testing.

* Responsible for determining the qualifications and competence of each laboratory staff member.

* Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and Hillcrest South.

* Must report hazards and initiate appropriate action.

* Must participate in safety instructional programs.

What You'll Bring

* Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a chemical, physical biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program.

* Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.

* Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

* Desirable characteristics include at least five years' experience as a Medical Technologist.

* Must be eligible for ASCP or equivalent registry.
