Job Summary:

Mesa Energy Systems has an immediate need for a Solar PV Design Engineer in Irvine, California. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day management of our backlog of contracted solar projects in addition to providing engineering, design and proposal generation assistance to the sales team. This person will be responsible for solar project engineering, design (using AutoCAD or equivalent), permitting, procurement and interconnection in addition to coordinating project implementation with existing Mesa operations and project management personnel. This position reports to the Director of Solar PV Project Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the successful implementation of all aspects of project design, engineering, permitting, interconnection and procurement for Solar Photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage Projects.

- Assist the sales team in developing bids and technical designs as related to sales activities using helioscope and/or AutoCAD

- Work closely with Sales and Engineering to offer best solution for each project.

- Complete interconnection drawings, single line diagrams, bid sets, construction sets, and as-built drawings in addition to coordinating overflow of engineering with engineering vendors as needed for all solar and battery energy storage projects

- Work with utility companies on project coordination.

- Work with internal Operations team throughout project development and implementation.

- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors throughout project development and implementation.

- Monitoring of system performance for completed projects

- Visit job sites for project development, installation progress, punch-outs, etc.

- Attend customer meetings and presentations throughout sales cycle, if necessary.

- Generate and maintain gantt style project schedules on a bi-weekly basis for active projects

- Maintains records, files, controls, procedures to insure management and work production.

- Engineering experience with solar photovoltaic projects

- Strong knowledge of electrical and structural design components and solar equipment manufacturers

- Good working knowledge of standard utility process for interconnection approval and design requirements.

- Will provide system design drawings, bids, proposals, and RFIs, and provide support during construction and commissioning.

- Maintain design and proposal requirements, knowledge of codes and standards, design procedures, methods and process, improve efficiency of project development and project selection process

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of related business experience is a must

- BS/BA in relevant field is recommended, but not required with adequate experience

- Must have a minimum of five years' experience designing and managing solar projects

- Must be able to travel when needed within California, Nevada and Arizona as required for site visits and customer meetings

- Ability to work with the customer, vendors and finance partners to find mutually satisfactory solutions to difficult issues.

- Must have good computer skills to include excel, AutoCAD and PowerPoint.

- Experience in providing technical support to energy-related projects with accountability for project performance and design.

- Knowledge of submitting written proposals, scopes of work, scheduling and coordinating site contractors and other assigned personnel; a thorough understanding of construction schedules and operations and the ability to meet demanding customer requirements.

- Experience and knowledge on the design and construction process of commercial and industrial distributed generation solar PV projects.

- NABCEP certification is a plus.

- Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and solar modeling tools, including Helioscope.

- Experience reading and understanding technical specifications and construction documents.

- Experience with professional oral and written communication skills.

- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet MVR requirements to operate a company vehicle.
