Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Services

HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe is a tertiary acute care 342 BED hospital that has been serving the community for more than 75 years. It provides a 24-hour designated Level II trauma center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac care services, women's center, daVinci robotic surgery, neurosciences, pediatric care, rehabilitation therapy, sleep center, radiology, hyperbaric medicine, diagnostic/imaging services, and wound care facility.

HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE:

* Under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Director of Medical Imaging, and the Staff Radiologists, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible to safely and proficiently perform stress ECG and nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging procedures and related patient care according to, government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Medical Imaging Department, and policies and procedures of the hospital
* Demonstrates technical knowledge and appropriate care of patients relative to their age specific needs.
* Understands and follows established radiation safety rules. Always uses appropriate radiation safety devices to protect self, others, and the patient.
* Consistently produces quality films. Uses good judgment in seeking assistance or supervision when it is needed.
* Consistently selects correct exposure and filming techniques. Shows ability to adapt techniques to various imaging situations.
* Has working knowledge of all image enhancement and subtraction software to produce high quality diagnostic films for radiologist interpretations.
* Properly sets up patient, supplies, and equipment before summoning radiologist to begin procedures. Assists radiologists as needed during procedures. Is able to anticipate the radiologist's needs and have appropriate supplies, and equipment ready for immediate use.
* Can perform routine exams independently with confidence. Can adapt to various size patients.
* Communicates with the radiologists, nurses, other technologists, and the patient clearly and effectively. Briefs patients as to what will occur during the procedure including equipment motion, equipment noise, injection sensations and etc. to ease patient apprehension.
* Uses good judgment regarding verbal communication and conversation topics during procedures to prevent upsetting the patient. Informs family members of exam progress to ease their anxiety.

QUALIFICATIONS

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

* Graduate of a 2 year accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology or hospital trained and qualified to take the registry exam(s) listed below.
* Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine (or) current registry with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registry eligible and pass either the ARRT or NMTCB exam within 1 year of employment.
* Current G.M.R.T. registry with the Texas Medical Board. (L.M.R.T. is not accepted)
* Appropriate experience and proven competence as determined by the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, Department Director, and Medical Director.
* CPR Certified
