Position Overview

The Project Manager (PM) will plan, direct and coordinate all activities on designated projects from the point of job being awarded to completion.  The overriding responsibility is to ensure that the projects are accomplished on time and in conformance with all the terms and conditions of the contract(s).  This includes the successful startup and completion of projects from sales hand-off to billing, working with other functional departments, coordinating, directing and reporting on projects based on the needs of the customer, scope of project and capacity of the plants. The PM is the leader in managing the SIOP process and communicating/coordinating with all stakeholders involved (internal and external). 

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for understanding multiple projects concurrently including the scope, schedule, pricing, budget and terms & conditions of the project from initial sales hand-off.


• Initiates kickoff calls with customers as the assigned PM.  Ensures that all issues and needs which arise from the point of sale to completion of the project are resolved promptly, including but not limited to change orders, adjustments to the schedule, collection activity as appropriate for each assigned project.


• Reviews sales proposals to ensure proper estimating requirements are complete, submittals are accurate, and approvals are returned by the customer. 


• Enters/manages sales order information into AX and ensures the accuracy of information. 


• Works with the customer on the submittals and priority list while updating order status and request dates within the system.


• Coordinates with the Production department developing the production schedule.  Communicates production schedule back to the customer and ensures parties agree with the timing.  Works closely with the Plant Manager, OSRs and Sales Manager(s) when conflicts arise regarding the schedule.


• Manage the timely procurement of 3rd party materials either by directing purchases through the Procurement Department or procuring the materials under OI’s procurement’s process.  


• Working with Dispatch, the PM keeps informed of customer delivery dates (Dispatcher will coordinate final delivery of loads directly with customer). Coordinates special delivery requirements between Dispatch and the customer in preparation of shipments. 


• Prepare applicable Change Order Proposals in a timely manner, whether owner/client/architect requested or generated from Oldcastle.


• Monitors progress and status of each assigned project as it moves through the SIOP process, and acts to problem solve; proactively and assists other staff in expediting assigned projects, removes obstacles which may cause a project to fall behind schedule.


• Maintains consistent and timely customer communication throughout the project while ensuring the Company is providing a great customer service and positive customer experience.


• Successfully lead the project to completion at or below budget and proactively work with stakeholders to prevent or eliminate potential back charges.

 Requirements

• Strong organizational, communication skills and attention to detail.


• Demonstrated ability to manage several large to small, complex projects simultaneously.


• Construction or precast concrete industry experience, 2+ years of Project Management experience a plus


• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


• Ability to review and work from production schematics and engineering drawings.


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Civil Engineering or Construction Management a plus.
