Job Description:

Geologists convene OGS-hosted workshops and work on OGS publications. Geologists attend regional, national, and international conferences, and publish in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. Geologists work with geographic information systems software for mapping products and spatial analysis, and have access to a range of geological and scientific software. Maintaining an extensive geological database and core repository is also the responsibility of OGS geologists, with a goal of bringing information to an on-line, accessible format. Laboratory efforts include microanalytical and rock properties analysis, and several OGS geologists pursue areas in machine learning and numerical modeling. Field mapping and stratigraphy remains a core activity of OGS geologists, along with monitoring and modeling hydrogeology through well data and groundwater seeps.
