Job Description:

An operating group of The Andersons, Inc., the Rail Group ranks seventh among privately-owned fleets in the U.S. It provides a variety of services to the rail industry including fleet management, leasing, repair and custom fabrication.

The Rail Group repairs, sells, manages, and leases a fleet of  24,000+ various types of railcars and locomotives. It also provides repair, maintenance and component manufacturing services to private railcar owners through its 24 repair shops and steel fabrication facility.

Position Overview

This position is a management training role responsible for learning all aspects of rail shop operations and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain a working knowledge of rail shop operations and management including but not limited to maintenance, procurement, sales, quality, inventory, safety, compliance, financial planning and reporting, and project management


• Gain necessary knowledge and experience to transition into a management position within 6-12 months

What is expected of you and others at this level

• Performs routine, entry-level assignments


• Knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts gained through education and/or experience


• Develops competence by performing structured work assignments


• Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems


• Receives instruction, guidance and direction

Minimum Q ualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree required (or the equivalent in work experience)


• 1-3 years' relevant experience required


• Ability to relocate (anywhere in the United States)

• Must have valid driver's license


• Must meet company requirements to be an insured driver
