Businesses in every industry generate staggering volumes of data ... on customers, operations, risks and more. Analyzing this data and predicting what will happen next is critical to their success. Today, 92 of the top 100 companies in the Fortune Global 500 rely on software from SAS to do this.

SAS is seeking a short-term contract public relations (PR) specialist and storyteller to help us highlight the value of data analytics and promote SAS' analytics leadership.

Can you develop and place compelling stories, from full-length features in national magazines to memorable segments on television and radio?

Can you seamlessly engage with influencers, interview a customer about her story, craft an edgy pitch on the latest business and tech trends, help craft an infographic or video that's exceedingly shareable, and respond to a media question on a ridiculously tight deadline?

And can you take marketing messages and transform them into interesting news releases that will leave readers wanting to know more?

As part of SAS' Integrated Communications team, you'll work in a high-energy, deadline-driven environment to build relationships with key influencers, brand advocates and internal marketing partners. Given the pandemic's continuing effects, much of this work will be done in a virtual environment.

Put your skills to work on an experienced, curious and capable team at a premier workplace that consistently ranks among the world's best.

Essential:
Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or a related field of study.
- A minimum of three years' experience, as part of an in-house or agency public relations team with direct media contact; or as a technology writer or editor for a news outlet.
- Experience creating and managing public relations campaigns and programs for software and/or high-tech companies/clients.
- Proven ability to build and place stories in national outlets, publications and broadcast channels.
- Excellence in written and verbal communication.

Additional:
- Demonstrated experience in translating technical lingo into a compelling story.
- Experience not only writing, editing and creating news, but using graphics, video and social media to seed it, stimulate it and spread it.
- Social media savvy, with ability to integrate social media into PR activities.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask within a deadline-driven environment, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Equivalency:
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements stated above.
- The level of this position will be determined based on the applicant's education, skills and experience.

Why SAS:
- We're the leader in analytics. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence. Our curiosity fuels innovation, pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo and changing the way we live.
- We love living the #saslife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work. No matter what your specialty or where you are in the world, your unique contributions will make a difference. Our multi-dimensional culture blends our different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Here, it isn't about fitting into our culture, it's about adding to it - and we can't wait to see what you'll bring.
- SAS looks not only for the right skills, but also for a cultural fit. We seek colleagues who will contribute to the unique culture that makes SAS such a great place to work. We look for the total candidate: technical skills, culture fit, relationship skills, problem solvers, good communicators and, of course, innovators. Candidates must be ready to make an impact.
