The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state, and company standards. You will work with the Executive Director and/or Arbor Administrator, to assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Responsibilities/Qualifications/Skillset

Responsibilities
Interview residents or family members to obtain activity suggestions.
- Review all resident care plans on a quarterly basis for accuracy regarding the activities department and to recognize the ability and needs of the residents
- Make routine visits to residents and provide one-on-one visits to those residents who may not participate in regular activities
- Monitor staff to assure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies
- Report known or suspected incidents of fraud, waste and/or abuse to the Executive Director.
- Develop a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections in conjunction with Executive Director
- Assist in preparing and planning the activity department's budget to be submitted to the Executive Director for review, recommendations, and approval
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information
- Ensure that all activity personnel are knowledgeable of the resident's rights and responsibilities, including the right of refusal
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility
- Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the activity department's needs, and assign a sufficient number of activity personnel
- Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc., to expedite work.
- Counsel/discipline activity personnel as requested or as necessary
- Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Administrator

Qualifications
- Must possess, as a minimum, high school diploma. Higher education experience preferred but not necessary
- Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years' experience in a social or recreation program or have similar amount of experience working in a health care setting
- Must have service-related experience
- Must be knowledgeable of regulations governing activity services in assisted living and memory care facilities.
