Regional Manager

Position Summary:

The Regional Manager will manage, direct, facilitate, and coordinate the operational activities of location managers in a given geographic region to obtain optimal operational efficiency, communication, and asset utilization for the company. The position will play a significant role in training, supporting and developing location managers and key personnel for promotion and career enhancements. Plans, directs, and coordinates operational activities to ensure that policies, goals or objectives are consistent with those established by the company officers and the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide day-to-day Operations leadership and management to meet the adopted mission and core values of the company.

  • Assure the organization's policies and goals relating to grain, and agronomy products and services are achieved.

  • Leads activities of specified locations such as operating, engineering, safety, environmental, planning, maintenance, to effect operational efficiency and regulatory compliance; includes recommendations of necessary purchases and replacement of equipment. Reviews asset requests for the given area.

  • Analyzes region's location budgets to identify areas to support or where reductions need to be recommended. Assist those location managers with planning, developing, and preparation of the locations annual operating budget.

  • Responsible for supporting their given locations to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.

  • Work closely with specified location personnel and participate in activities and operations to enhance a positive company culture and community activities.

  • Work closely with your regional sales manager to achieve business goals of the region.

  • Provides direction to their region's location managers outlining policy, program, or operations issues/changes to be implemented.

  • Provide mentoring to your region's managers and key employees.

  • Conduct performance appraisals and recommend wage and salary adjustments for personnel supervised.

  • Ensure all personnel under direct supervisors are thoroughly trained in accordance with requirements of their position.

  • Conduct on site reviews of each location of responsibility and implement necessary changes.

  • Attend training, meetings, staff and employee meetings and annual membership meetings.

  • Coordinate with grain and agronomy department heads on marketing strategies.

  • Help determine project proposals or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.

  • Directs and coordinates activities of project to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.

  • Coordinates with the sales staff directly on budgets, employee planning, and program planning to support their growth and the growth of the company.

Education and Experience Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; Ten years' progressive management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Agriculture industry experience and knowledge preferred.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to lead people and get maximum results through others, a proven track record of operations management success.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Problem solving analysis and resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level.

  • Technical skills in strategic planning and forecasting.

  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.

  • Commitment to organizational growth and profitability.
