Location: Alexandria, VA or Cape Canaveral, FL (or geographically located in the East Coast)

Position Summary:

The Director of Pricing and Estimating role is to provide strategic pricing leadership to win competitive federal contracts for IAP Worldwide Services and to manage day-to-day activities and functions of the Pricing & Estimating Department.

The ideal candidate will lead procedures, tools, and techniques to be used in cost proposal preparation and the development of pricing strategies for bids, in collaboration with Capture Managers and other stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions (not limited to duties as described - performs related duties as requested):


  • Governs the Cost Estimating System, update all requirements, processes, procedures, manuals, and guides. Ensures training and adherence to all policies and procedures for accountability to the approved system.

  • Ensures accurate and compliant cost data is developed for both new business proposals and contract modifications.

  • Provide strategic pricing direction to increase the company's opportunity to win new business.

  • Lead cross functional teams with all supporting business functions to collaborate and ensure the Pricing & Estimating team analyzes and researches Request for Proposal (RFP) and Statement of Work (SOW) requirements for pricing and related deliverables.

  • Responsible for the examination and analysis of cost data pertaining to labor, materials, equipment, and other elements of Government RFPs. Enhances the best price by breaking down the pricing approach ensuring the priced approach is in line with industry.

  • Interface efficiently with DCAA on proposal audit and Estimating System inquiries.

  • Lead Estimating Team as it develops variable and auditable Base of Estimate (BOE) that are fully compliant with RFP requirements.

  • Supports the development of his/her direct reports to enhance skills in pricing and estimating strategies.

Level of Supervision:

  • Provides day to day supervision to corporate based and guidance to the Pricing and Estimating team throughout the organization.

Education & Experience:


  • BS in Finance, or related field.

  • 10 or more years relevant experience in a government contracting environment.

  • Prior supervisory experience and ability to develop others; and the ability to escalate issues as appropriate.

  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities, meet challenging deadlines, and work independently and strategically across matrix organizations to develop a detailed understanding of processes.

  • Demonstrated track record of strong attention to detail; accountability and ownership of results; flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Working knowledge of pricing for Government contracts, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards and Service Contract Act (SCA).

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Expert skill using Microsoft (MS) Office, Excel, MS Word, and Access.

  • Management and leadership skills required.

  • Effective analytical, oral and written communication.

  • Ability to interact effectively with people in many different occupations across the company and with client, vendor, subcontractor and craft representatives.

  • Attention to detail with an ability to handle multiple tasks independently.

Travel: As needed

Security Clearance: Minimum Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
