Seeking a curious and detail-oriented technical writer to join the Technical Publications team. Writers are responsible for planning, organizing, writing, and editing our client's technical operations, maintenance, and software help/manuals. A passion for learning new technologies, researching, and analyzing source material, and working with engineers and other subject matter experts are key for the successful candidate.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical Communications, English, or a related field and 2 or more years of experience creating technical documentation

- Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing

- Experience with topic-based authoring

- Proficient with Adobe RoboHelp

- Proficient with Adobe Framemaker

- Ability to decipher and utilize source data from multiple sources, subject matter experts, and skill levels

- Ability to learn new concepts/technologies in a short time frame

- Ability to understand multi-level parts lists

- Ability to understand complex systems consisting of networked products

- Ability to understand similarities and differences between products for content reuse

Preferred Skills

- Military Communications Experience

- Mechanical aptitude; ability to disassemble/reassemble equipment and write remove/replace procedures

- Ability to read electrical diagrams/schematics

- DITA specifications, Framemaker EDD experience

- CorelDraw

- Microsoft PowerPoint

- Microsoft Word

- Experience developing Technical Manuals per MIL-STD-40051

- Experience developing courseware per TRADOC PAM 350-70

- Experience developing Training Data Products per MIL-PRF-29612

- Instructional Design experience
