High school level of knowledge. Formal education in food service supervision or cooking preferred. Serve Safe certification within one year of hire. HACCP certification within one year of hire. Minimum of three years experience in hospital/LTC food service. Must be able to operate and maintain kitchen equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of nutrition. Good communication and interpersonal skills. First Cook - Minimum of five years of experience in hospital food service with progressive responsibility. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision making. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under deadline pressures and to simultaneously handles multiple projects. Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position. High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
