Overview

As a key player in our clinical research enterprise, Research Pharmacy is responsible for pharmaceutical management of investigational drugs for oncology trials. Our mission is to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical cares to our research patients. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is opening a new outpatient cancer facility in January 2021 in Chestnut Hill. The new ambulatory center, located at 300 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, will provide much needed space for adult patient care to support our patient growth. Dana-Farber - Chestnut Hill will offer Clinical and Research Laboratory Services, Clinical Trials, Imaging, Infusion Services, Nutrition Support, Retail Pharmacy, Social Work, and Transfusion Services. This will be a multi-disciplinary, state-of-the-art facility designed to maintain the same model of care that is currently given to our patients on our Longwood Campus.

Job Location:

Training for this position will start at our Longwood campus (450 Brookline Ave), and will transition to Chestnut Hill after opening.

Requirements

Responsible for providing technical support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The Level II Research Pharmacy Technician s duties include:

* Receiving investigational products into inventory

* Preparation of investigational products for dispensing, including sterile compounding

* Inventory tracking and maintenance including drug expiration updates

* Tracking and processing drug returns and replacements

* Utilizing various equipment and technology available in pharmacy

* Managing and maintaining study documentations and investigational product accountability

* Assisting in various quality control tasks to ensure compliance to institutional, state and federal regulatory policies

* Participating in the training and orientation of new technicians and pharmacy students

* Other duties as assigned

* High school graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level degree program for pharmacy or related field

* Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as Pharmacy Intern or Pharmacy Technician

* National Pharmacy Technician Certification required with the exception of pharmacy students

* Two to five years pharmacy technician experience, with one year of IV admixture and/or one year of oncology experience and/or retail pharmacy experience
