Golder has a new opportunity for an experienced and motivated senior-level Geologist/Engineering Geologist to join the Geoscience Team in our Redmond, WA office. The qualified candidate shall have broad skills in the field of applied geology and engineering geology, preferably be registered as a Geologist and or Engineering Geologist or capable of obtaining their license in the State of Washington. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering consulting. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Puget Sound geology, strong GIS skills, and experience in planning and executing field exploration programs, writing proposals and reports and managing projects and client expectations. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated team leadership skills, a positive attitude, good business acumen and strong project management skills.

Our candidate will enjoy working in a team, setting goals and working with senior colleagues to provide mentoring and growth opportunities to our junior staff. We are looking for someone who is client focused, delivers quality consulting services, and works to grow the client and project opportunities for the Geoscience Team and the office

Responsibilities of the role will include:


  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients by providing technical expertise, being responsive and providing quality and cost targeted consulting services


  • Supervise and manage geologists to perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards


  • Plan and manage simple and complex subsurface field geologic exploration programs including drilling and test pit explorations


  • Provide interpretation of subsurface conditions and develop conceptual geologic models


  • Review geologic samples and assign geologic unit identification, assign laboratory testing and supervise the preparation of exploration records


  • Provide direction on the installation of monitoring wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP's, inclinometers, transducers etc.)


  • Interpret geologic data and write geotechnical and geologic reports


  • Conduct geologic research, write project proposals and reports


  • Provide technical direction and oversight as well as mentoring and training to junior-level Golder staff.



Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering required, Master's degree is preferred

  • Minimum of 12 years of job-related experience

  • Experience managing simple to complex subsurface investigations including: drilling, soil classification, monitoring well installation and instrumentation;

  • Experience and proficiency using GIS and remote sensing data (LIDAR and aerial imagery) for geologic reconnaissance and hazard identification

  • Candidates must be willing to work in the field conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of terrain and weather conditions

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills, with demonstrated report writing skills.

  • Existing strong client relationships in the Pacific Northwest
  • Experience with management of mid to large-size, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Specialized computer skills including database applications, AutoCAD, GIS and gINT.
