Saint Anselm College, a private liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full time Covid-19 Screening Technician. Reporting to the Director of Health Services, the Covid-19 Screening Technician will be responsible for testing students with clinician order for COVID-19 via nasopharyngeal swab and performing COVID-19 rapid antigen testing using the Sofia2 analyzer. Will educate students on the process of testing and redirect those who are displaying certain health symptoms. Works in a team environment under the guidance of Saint Anselm College Health Services and Sports Medicine with proper PPE provided by Saint Anselm College. Requires an understanding of donning and doffing PPE and infection prevention.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the integrity of the specimens throughout the process.
Document test results and report results to Saint Anselm College Health Services and Sports Medicine Departments according to established procedure and abiding by HIPAA and FERPA.
Utilize professional judgment in interpretations of clinical lab results and in responding to unusual situations.
Utilize judgment and discretion in considering sample integrity and acceptability, process calibration, reagent concentration and stability, quality control relationship to unknown results, evaluation of unexpected patient results and error identification.
Inform supervisor or designee of unusual or unexpected test results after verification and accessing validity of the original test results.
Perform quality control procedures as required and maintain adequate control records to include problem log documentation, reporting any abnormal or unusual variances to Technical Supervisor/Consultant as appropriate.
Adhere to established quality control policies and procedures to guarantee the reliability of data.
Forward problem results to appropriate staff as directed
Coordinate quality assurance and participate in quality improvement activities.
Equipment Maintenance
Check, calibrate and maintain equipment in working order, performing preventative maintenance at prescribed intervals.
Troubleshoot technical and procedural problems, make minor repairs, and discuss with Technical Supervisor/Consultant.
Keep related records. Maintain all records and documentation, i.e. calibrations, temperatures, etc., needed to comply with federal and accrediting agencies.
Complete data spreadsheets to report to the NH DHHS.
High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred but not required.
Licensed Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Athletic Trainer or Emergency Medical Technician preferred but not required.
Ability to learn infection control procedures including PPE donning and doffing
Ability to perform COVID-19 testing and follow steps of specimen collection
Requires flexibility to perform patient/student swabbing
Strong customer service skills needed to enhance patient experience
Attention to detail with record keeping and data collection
A strong knowledge and experience using excel spreadsheets
