Summary

This position is accountable for ensuring direct plant-wide raw materials and packaging supplies for Milford Manufacturing Operations. This position has responsibility for executing material requirements planning and providing approvals for manufacturing item purchase orders for the Lakeview/West plant facilities. The Materials Buyer planner translates production schedules and order requirements for material plans that drive Pull systems, Kanban, and Supermarket inventories. The Materials Buyer Planner provides guidance and approvals to the Site Operation Buyers and works in coordination with the Milford Site Buyers and Corporate Procurement group. This position is responsible for optimizing purchase order approvals to achieve maximum inventory turnover, optimum service levels, minimum purchase prices while ensuring high quality and regulatory standards while reducing manufacturing complexities. This role also needs to ensure that ERP systems system set-ups are structured correctly for BOM explosions so recommendations can be calculated properly to drive quantities and timing of materials needed.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide approval of Manufacturing item Purchase Orders for the Lakeview/West facilities.
  • Ensure timely acquisition of direct materials to support efficient operation of a medical device and pharmaceutical chemical site.
  • Thorough comprehension of Procurement Purchasing policies (price, lead-time etc.)
  • Ensure maintenance of Master Data in AX ERP system as it pertains to MRP to ensure accuracy of system set-up's for ERP recommendations driving quantities and timing of materials needed.
  • Support site-based manufacturing, planning, engineering, QA/RA, EHS, and engineering product development teams for timely execution of procurement processes to support business plans.
  • Conduct analysis of demand and scheduling to optimize inventory purchases and minimize carrying costs. i.e. Lead times, MOQ's, etc.
  • Purchasing approvals to maintain inventory levels within specified parameters for inventory management optimization.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks along with improvement actions. Including evaluation and recommendations to ERP parameters.
  • Consult/Inform the Value Stream Operations groups including Buyers, Schedulers and Procurement teams relative to inventory impacts and carrying costs due to LT's, MOQ's etc.
  • Support coordination and execution of new products, graphic change revisions and BOM changes.
  • Assist in identification of expiry and projected obsolescence products.
  • Participate with Site Operation Buyers using KPI's to assess on-time delivery and assistance to quantify vendor supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and procurement associates from other Dentsply Sirona sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Procurement and/or supply chain experience in a chemical site
  • Procurement experience in an FDA regulated facility (medical device and pharmaceutical)
  • Proficient in ERP environments, specifically MRP, master data management, and shop floor controls.

Certifications/Licensing:


  • APICS certification strongly preferred (CSCP or CSIM)
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.

Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:


  • Proficient in MS office suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong Analytical and organizational skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, to multi-task and be organized.
