CHARGE RN MEDICAL UNIT

The Registered Nurse in the Charge Nurse role is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care and supervision to other members of the nursing team. The nurse in this role will be expected to fulfill the following skills, including but not limited to: provide competent, safe care for patients, patient assessment and response, and assumption of responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The Charge RN also assists the unit director with staff performance improvement by providing just in time coaching, feedback for performance reviews, and assistance with disciplinary efforts. The Charge RN may be given special quality, practice, and professional development projects to lead.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. (BSN preferred)

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred, or active plan to complete BSN within 2 years.

* Minimum 2 years in the clinical specialty of his/her unit

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

* Utah RN License in this state (required)

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS).

EXPERIENCE:

* One year nursing experience (required)
