PRINCIPAL DESIGN ENGINEER

JOB TITLE:      Principal Design Engineer

DUTIES:          Research advancement in technology; Write Statements of Work, requirements documents, and requirements traceability matrix; Simulate, Design, and Build products; Test and Validate Design; and, present/discuss design with customers. The following products will be worked on: Power Electronics for Convertors; Power Electronics for Inverters and Rectifiers; Power Supplies; Energy Storage Products; Electronics/Innovation ideas for products in the area of Renewable Energy. Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions and meetings; Work with Project Managers in the quoting process; Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules; Support the development and utilization of processes for design; Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective; Raise perception of Jabil’s acumen in the industry by authoring and presenting papers and articles; Work with Site Directors to define potential R&D project proposals that will help increase areas of competencies needed; Lead the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical staff; Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the architectures; Manage product design and documentation at a system level; Perform independent research and engineering studies; Lead remote development teams; Consult on multiple projects in parallel; and, Develop IP Patents, Technical Publications, and White Papers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Electronics or an equivalent field or foreign equivalent. 12 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design or Power Systems Design.

In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience, we will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Electronics or an equivalent field or foreign equivalent and 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design or Power Systems Design.   

In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience, we will accept a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power Electronics or an equivalent field or foreign equivalent and 7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design or Power Systems Design.
