The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for booking banquet functions from orientation to event. He/she also supports the Director of Catering by completing task as directed.
Job Duties:
Responsible for the preparation of arrangements with clients for functions that are booked in person, via the telephone, or through correspondence. Obtaining all pertinent information concerning the event, more specifically the size of the party, menu, and schedule of events. Works directly with the client in setting up and following through on all details of the event.
Responsible for negotiating the price with clients, the drawing-up and securing of contracts.
Responsible for working with the other sales personnel and the DOC to generate new business and maintaining contact with current accounts.
Responsible for ensuring that each banquet room is inspected prior to a function to verify that the room set-up, menu, and schedule of events are correct.
Responsible for soliciting, negotiating and booking new/repeat business by outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking
Required to achieve revenue sales goals
Required to maintain existing accounts as well as solicit new business
Must wear approved manufacturer certified slip resistant or non-slip shoes at all times while working
Participate in and pass alcohol awareness and safety training classes
Education/Experience:
College Degree preferred
3 years related experience preferred (catering sales, special events, restaurant events management, etc)
Required Skills:
Work with fluctuating schedule based on departmental requirements.
Observe all SRC Polices and Procedures.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Detailed oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
Strong background in hospitality and event planning.
Strong PC skills with a working knowledge of including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office, and Outlook.
Schedule Requirements:
Full-time
Schedule may fluctuate based on departmental requirements
Travel Requirements:
Local travel required when considered necessary.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to walk, stand or sit for hours at a time. Lift and carry up to 25lbs.
