Infusion Pharmacy Technician - Atlanta Georgia

The Infusion Pharmacy Tech, under the direction of the Pharmacist, is responsible for preparing IV MEDS safely for patients adhering to established protocols for State and Federal standards, and other regulatory entities. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES will be:

1. Performs the following tasks in a correct and timely fashion under the supervision of a pharmacist: • Contacts patients and/or caregivers to schedule a delivery and determine supply needs. • Picks and packs medical supplies to fill patient orders. • Accurately dispenses products in the computer system to generate a delivery ticket and/or prescription labels. • Confirms delivery tickets after delivery. 2. Assists the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies using appropriate techniques and following Barnes Healthcare policies and procedures. • Accurately calibrates equipment. • Assists with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs • Ensures all pharmacy surfaces, laminar flow hoods and clean room are cleaned per company policy. • Prepares medications under the supervision of a pharmacist so they are appropriately concentrated. • Ensures that a licensed pharmacist properly checks all compounding and packing. • Adheres to appropriate safety and quality assurance practices. • Complies with state and federal laws. 3. Manage time effectively to fulfill responsibilities. 4. Maximize work efficiency through the use of computers and other technologies. 5. Assists with product purchasing, inventory and
equipment management. 6. Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information. 7. Maintain a professional image at all times

 

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma and/or GED required

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician required in the State of Florida. Certification preferred, or Certification obtained within the first year of employment

  • Thorough working knowledge of IV medications, sterile IV mixtures and aseptic procedures and working knowledge of basic pharmaceutical calculations

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under stressful conditions at times and under time constraints.
