Job Description:

ABOUT THE JOB
Operator is responsible for generating steel reinforcement for concrete pipe assembly. Will handle day-to-day operation with efficiency and productivity. This position crosses department lines and must be able to work with multiple department leads specifically, Production and Dry Cast. You will report directly to the Plant Supervisor and is responsible for the flow of machine maintenance, materials and finished products.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Measure and cut rebar to blue print specifications


• Bend and tie rebar to specifications


• Set rebar in correct locations to support production needs


• Use and install lifters


• Mathematically inclined for conversions


• Mechanically inclined including but not limited to pneumatic, hydraulic, or electronics


• Coordinate schedule with the Production Supervisor


• Responsible for use and care of all equipment


• Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on machine


• Adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and use all necessary PPE


• Review the work area for safety hazards or unsafe conditions


• Regular use of hand tools and power tools


• Forklift and Crane use and certifications


• Coordinate the flow of materials for machine


• Ordering, tracking supplies, equipment and replacement parts


• Other duties may be assigned as necessary

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals


• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule


• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions


• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts


• The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock


• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
