Job Description:

BIOPHYSICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated person to focus on measuring interactions between small molecules and proteins using hydrogen exchange mass spectrometry (HX or HDX) for approximately 1-2 years.

* The successful candidate will split time between one innovation project (80%) and working with a variety of early discovery project teams (20%) to study the relationships between protein dynamics and binding.

* Primary responsibilities will include the collection and analysis of different types of hydrogen exchange experiments (pulse-labeling and native) on a mix of different cellular protein targets.

* Preferred individuals will embody a passion for protein analytical chemistry and biochemistry/physics.

SKILLS:

* A mind eager to learn about protein dynamics with demonstrable evidence of success in a protein mass spectrometry lab could be enough.

* This position requires an interest in protein folding and mastery of basic lab skills needed to adapt and employ generic protein biochemistry workflows into specific use situations.

* It also requires patience as often we will be working with customized robotics and bespoke command line driven software.

* Experience with tandem mass spectrometry, HDX-MS, DSC, HPLC are highly desired.

EDUCATION:

* The qualified individual will possess a B.S. and possibly M.S. in a biological science, analytical chemistry, polymer chemistry, biomaterials or chemical engineering with a minimum of 1-3 years of lab experience in academia, biotechnology and/or pharma.
