PEOPLE CENTERED SAFETY LEADER

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The People Centered Safety Leader position provides global leadership, expert guidance, program coordination, problem solving, and coaching in the highly specialized and important areas of People Centered Safety (PCS), the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Transformation Maturity Model, and in overall Organizational Effectiveness. Consistent with K-C’s Caring Value and its commitment to providing a safe workplace, this position is responsible for ensuring:


  • The deployment of the EHS Maturity Model, including ownership of Maturity Model processes (such as Kickstart and Boost processes) as determined by manager.

  • Workplace behavioral risks are controlled, and safe work practices facilitated through implementation of formal and systematic People Centered Safety processes.

As the enterprise’s subject matter expert (SME) and thought leader in the area of People Centered Safety & the EHS Maturity Model, the People Centered Safety Leader is responsible for developing and deploying K-C’s global PSC strategy and plans, and the global EHS Transformation Maturity Model. This position provides guidance and support in the areas of PCS and the EHS Transformation Maturity Model to Kimberly-Clark’s leadership, K-C Global Safety Leaders, and the K-C OSH Community of Practice consisting of over 100 OSH practitioners across all Regions.

As a member of K-C’s EHS Transformation Team this position also provides input and support to K-C’s EHS Transformation 2022 Strategy. In this Transformation Team capacity, the incumbent will be required to deploy the EHS Maturity Model, develop K-C global EHS Management System Standards & Guidance Documents, build training programs and OSH Capabilities, and conduct deployments at sites across K-C in order to achieve the expected level of EHS performance and organizational effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

EHS Transformation 2022:


  • Providing exceptional leadership and influence through all levels of the organization, to elevate EHS Strategy and Capability globally.

  • Leading Deployment of EHS Maturity Model. 

  • Ownership of Maturity Model Processes (Kickstart, Boost, etc.).

  • Shared ownership of K-C’s EHS Management System Standards.

Global People Centered Safety Strategy & Deployment:

As the organization’s SME and thought leader in People Centered Safety this position is responsible for developing and deploying K-C’s global PCS strategy in the areas of:


  • Safety Culture Assessment.

  • PCS Training & Promotion.

  • Improving Safety Mindsets, Behaviors, & Competencies.

  • Human Operating System/ Psychology of Safety.

  • PCS Program Design.

  • Safety Observation & Analysis.

  • PCS / Behavior Based Kaizens.
     

People Centered Safety & EHS Management Systems Competency Development:

As the enterprise’s People Centered Safety & EHS Management Systems SME, develops and implements an enterprise-wide training and education curriculum.

Assessments & Audits:

Conducts periodic People Centered Safety & EHS Management Systems reviews, and assessments at K-C sites to determine Maturity Journey Scores; making progress & gaps visible, escalating substandard conditions, and making recommendations for improvement.

Organizational Effectiveness:

Design, execute, and lead change management plans, EHS cultural alignment, and development strategies to actively and effectively influence and motivate a broad range of internal and external customers and stakeholders, including Regional & Sector EHS Leaders, Site EHS Leaders, Global, Regional, & Sector Engineering Teams, Supply Chain Personnel (Supply Chain VP’s, Plant Management, Operations Leaders), Procurement Personnel, Innovation Personnel, Government and Non-Governmental Organizations, Line-Level Leaders, and Operators. Ensure global alignment to strategy.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Travel up to 50% of the work time. Travel may include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations. May include international travel.

  • Work is completed in both office and manufacturing environments. When at Manufacturing sites, will be exposed to typical K-C Manufacturing environments ranging from dust, heat, noise, and moisture or clean room environments. Proper PPE must always be worn (may include safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gowning, etc.).

Role is preferably based at the Roswell Innovation Center in Roswell, GA but will consider other locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Safety-related Discipline.

  • Minimum of 7 years (with undergraduate degree) or 5 years (with graduate degree) progressive leadership experience in a complex, matrixed organization including people and/or large-scale program leadership experience.

  • Subject Matter Expert in the area of People Centered Safety and EHS Maturity Model concepts.

  • Outstanding organization and program management skills including managing portfolios of work with global scope.

  • Regulatory Knowledge – Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of applicable EHS&S regulations, codes, & standards.

  • Demonstrated leadership excellence at all levels of an organization.

  • Strong collaboration and organizational effectiveness skills.

  • Project Management.

  • Passion for safety excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Graduate degree preferred.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytic skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Experiencing in managing large-scale, enterprise-wide global projects.  

  • Professional certification in safety (CSP, CIH) or Engineering.
