We are currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to help support our growing technical team. We are open to candidates who may be based out of the Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque NM area.

The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for the coordination, preparation, monitoring and maintenance of project schedules, in various levels of details from Master down to Level 7. The development and maintenance of these schedules is done in close conjunction with the various Team Leaders, Project Managers and Department Managers, as required. The deliverables include bar chart schedules, progress curves, cumulative cost curves and resource histograms that are part of the Earned Value Management reporting system.

Responsibilities:


  • Preparing deliverables-based project schedules in various levels of detail, in a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in alignment with the project reporting system


  • Overseeing the day to day planning and scheduling activities


  • Resource loading and integrating costs into schedules


  • Updating and progressing the schedules as required by the project requirements,


  • Assisting the Project Manager with keeping the projects on schedule and budget with realistic and achievable planning and scheduling initiatives


  • Monitoring progress against baselines and reporting on status in an Earned Value Management system


  • Highlighting resource or schedule deviations to the Project Manager and assisting the Project Manager in developing mitigation plans to minimize schedule impacts


  • Assisting the Project Controls Lead in conducting schedule risk analysis


  • Preparing progress curves, cash flow curves, manpower histograms, and manpower forecasting reports


  • Participating in engineering, procurement and construction planning meetings


  • Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines


  • Works closely with Engineers, Team Leaders, Discipline Managers, to plan and schedule the projects


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 year's experience


  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a planning, scheduling and cost control role for government or commercial contracts


  • PMP designation is preferred


  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams including Engineers, Discipline Managers, Team Leaders, and Project Services


  • Additional experience in developing construction schedule, project reporting, cost control, procurement, contract administration, and construction management support is considered an asset


  • Proficient with project planning and scheduling tools especially Primavera P6 and COBRA


  • Proficient with MS Office Suite


  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to develop solutions to complex issues


  • Problem solving capability in the absence of procedures and guidelines


  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills


  • Strong oral and written communication skills


  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to prioritize work, recognizing the need for doing thorough and complete work, but at the same time addressing the demanding schedule requirements
