Job Description:

Arcadis is currently seeking an Engineering Intern to join our Middletown, CT office for the May 2021- August 2021 term.

We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address water issues like wastewater conveyance and treatment. Collaborating with our experienced water professionals, you will support and drive the development of projects, interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.

What you will do:


  • Perform planning studies, design, and field investigations for water and wastewater projects (including collection systems, transmission, and distribution, pumping stations and treatment plants).
  • Support the team in tasks ranging from general fieldwork to technical office work.
  • Perform a variety of investigation, design, and construction-related work in support of small and large infrastructure projects
  • Evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of projects for water/wastewater/ stormwater treatment and conveyance (pipelines and pumping facilities).
  • Support projects management efforts, such as managing project scopes, budgets, and client deliverables
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring setup and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Create written technical reports, Preliminary Design Reports, evaluation memorandums, letters, spreadsheets, email and permitting applications.

  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team
  • Basic understanding/ proficiency with AutoCAD (both 2D and 3D)

Required Qualification


  • Currently enrolled in a program seeking a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • Experience with AutoCAD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in similar type of civil engineering work
